buy a new one, common as dogs nuts. Try supercheap, autobarn, repco etc.

I have a mechanical one for either an 18RG or 18RC. Both in top condition.

You're running a mechanical pump right?
Mounted on the side of the motor?
If so i've had this problem myself when i had twin carbies..

You have an 18RG right? What pump you using?
I had mechanical, went from mechanical to electric and bought myself a holley red and regulator
Did the job! Drain the tank as well. I had water in my tank once and it stuffed the pump.

All electric fuel pumps make a ticking noise. What carbies your running? Do you have a return line? Do you have a regulator? Where is the fuel filter, before the pump i hope!
