1G-GTE Engine Check Light Mon, 13 January 2003 02:23 Go to next message
Can anyone help me with which pin on the computer is for the engine check light.

It is a manual Gen 2 1G-GTE if that makes a difference.

Whoever did the conversion never bothered to hook up the light. I think that the old girl is running in safe mode but can't do the diagnostic checks without the light.

Also does anyone know if the check light is supposed to be a incandescent bulb or an LED.

Thanks

Hoping to get this sorted before Dyno day Evil or Very Mad

Tina's is hooked up to one of the spare Red Lights on the Dash using a spare bulb from the parts car ! (You know the bank of 5 lights in a row ! )

Works a treat now we just need to fix the Friggin Knock sensor error code that is driving me nuts !! Sad

Craig - my email is <anthony.grant@ausaero.com.au> That would be great if I can get a copy of the wiring diagram off you. I have a generic Toyota wiring diagram that shows the engine check light attached to the w pin, however neither the computer or the plug show pin desciptors, so I am still not sure which pin is the w pin. Hopefully your wiring diagram can help here.

Phil - I will see how I get on with the wiring diagram from Craig, if not I will give you a call this afternoon. Thanks mate.

Rod - I was planning on doing the same thing, I have no idea why Toyota put all those annunciators in the RA28 dash, but they sure will come in handy. Was it an incandescent bulb used in the donor car? I guess it is a low voltage bulb of some sort.

Thanks fellas for all your help, The diagrams I got from Craig tell me exactly what I needed to know, along with a couple of other bits and pieces I was planning to figure out. I'm happier than a pig in mud.

I will wire it up tonight, all things going well.

Bugger

The fantastic wiring diagram from Craig that was exactly what I needed must be from a difference version of the 1G, so I am still looking for help here.

The wiring diagram that I got off Craig shows 22, 16 and 26 pin connectors on the ECU, whereas I have 18, 10 and 24 pin connectors. At least I know now to be careful if I ever have to change computers.

The ECU has 1G-GT stamped on it instead of 1G-GTE if that means anything.

Thanks,

Anthony

Thanks Rod, thats what I expected it to be. I might have a hunt around the wreckers and try and find a globe holder that will slot into the annunciator housing. Give it the factory look for anyone silly enough to want to pull the dash apart.

This might be a silly question, but on the loom diagram, it shows a warning light labeled "Turbo Indicator". I couldn't find any turbo inputs for the ECU. Any idea what it is supposed to do.

Gold28, pull the lid off your ECU. Toyota generally label the pins as they go into the board. You'll be able to find the W wire from there if the pins are labelled.

RA28_Sean - I thought that to, no such luck.

Thanks anyway
