where do you get that intake pipe stuff from and what's it called? I was going to make one from PVC or steel but that looks like it would work and cost less too.

Ok
there is a heat shield seperating the engine bay and the filter on both cars, the german one is all alloy by the looks of it where as my one is carbon fibre on one side and alluminium on the engine side, helps to not suck hot air
As for the intake pipes they are picked up very cheaply from clark rubber of all places, they are made from very thick rubber, and have a steel coil to keep it supported.
