18rgeu from ra21 into ra23

Seems that I might be having an issue. I purchased a 18rgeu out of a ra21 to put into my ra23. But I am worried about the oil sump. It just looks like it will not fit properly. I have the motor mount for the passenger side to make the conversion, but the pan looks like it might not work properly.
Does anyone know for sure that it will or will not fit?
Thanks
Ryan

You could have them if you want them but i dont know how the postage would be.

cos we are all lazy we shorten 18rc to generally 18r
the 18rc sump will definately fit on an 18rgeu/18rg engine
i have never tried a 20r so won't comment on that

Gday all,
Just for clarity sake, all the engines that are being talked about here are from the R family of motors. So.. the base motors are the 18R and 20R (and more). from there... there is actually a hyphen to make the 18R-C and 18R-G. both of which share the same block, but the C means there is a single over head cam and it complies to californian emissions. The G means there is an agressive twin cam for high revs and power, and it pollutes like hell. your talking about the 18R-GEU. of which the E means that it runs EFI, and the U means that it complies with european emissions. So... any 18R-XXXXX will have the same sump. 3 were available for the 18R series. There was a mid sump, which is the one required for the RA23, and is common as dogs nuts. There was also a Front sump, not sure what from, hilux i think, and this is useful for putting in TA22's, SA63's, RA60/65's and for rack and pinion conversions in RA23's and RA40's. Then there was the rear sump, from hiace's etc. good for hiaces etc... but no other practical use comes from these sumps... i threw one out not long ago cause nobody wants them. Suffice to say, you can get a mid sump from any RA23/RA40, and just about any sedan running an 18R and reciprocating ball steering (RT132 corona i believe has them and all). As for your question about the 20R sump, sorry but it wont fit. the 18R is compatible with most R motors, such as 16R and 8R, but not the 2X series of R motors. the 20,21 and 22R motors have interchangeable heads, sumps etc. the 18 and 8 r have interchangeable heads, and i think the 16R also but not so sure on that one. So... an 8R block is a popular one to be bored out so that used stock sized 18RG pistons can be used without excessive piston to bore clearance.
Theres a mouthful for you all, but i hope that it clears some confusion up, and helps ryan out with his dilemna.
Cheers, Owen
