 build date info?

Hi guys, I have a TA23 celica I'm doing an engine swap on but I need to know the build date so I can tell which emissions laws I need to work to!
the number stamped on the chassis is TA23-006196
and the only riveted plate on the car reads:
TOYOTA
Model: TA23R-H-MMR
Engine: 2T
Frame No: TA23-006196
Color/Trim: 802 ZD03
Trans/Axle : A40 T292
Plant/GVW: A41
anyone have any clues? I'm hoping the car is prior to 7/76! cos I'm putting a 13B in it and I'm possibly gonna have some serious emissions issues!

Call up Vicroads, tell them the VIN and ask what they have listed, otherwise try Toyota.

which is newer? the car or the engine?? seems unlikely that you have an early 70's 13B tho.

yeah I'm lucky  the engine came originally from an rx-5, it is the 75-76 model (pheww) also a nice little side its from a car thebloke had been racing... its got a beautifully honed large extend port I've got the engine and gearbox in the car, just a matter of an exhaust and all the various hoses and connections. it's gonna be a pain in the ass but it'll go like hell

Looking at some numbers that start in 77 and the production each month it looks alot like it was built in Feb,Mar,April 76.
And as far as I know Australian Delivered TA23's weren't built after 05/76.
