4AGE coil?

Hey there peeps,
Heard many different people say to use resisted coil or not etc. Can people please just go out to your 4AG powered car and see what ignition coil you use?

4A-C uses a coil with resistor
4A-GE (Bigport with TVI-S) doesn't use a resistor (and nothing's blown in my experiment yet so i guess it's not meant to have one)meaning i'm not sure but mine doesn't have one.
4A-GZE definitely doesn't come with one.
some people say it's not necessary but don't listen to them. better to have it and be safe then know it's not needed, then not to have it at all and burn the dizzy..

FYI
resistor is a white little box typically sit on top of the coil (on the coil's bracket)
one wire from +ve of coil goes into resistor, the other is from earth -ve.
what i gather is it controls the current that gets to the dizzy so it doesn't blow out the dizzy's assembly.
me bigport didn't come with it, has standard bracket for coil.

I was told by a friend last night that the resistors had an input of 12V and output of 6V, and were used only on point style engines like the 4KC and 4AC.

and so saying that, i've checked another mate's 4A-GE doesnt have a resistor.
that sounds about right, 12V in 6V out. makes the same big spark on all 4 plugs though...

For future reference
Bosch SU12 (Standard Version)
Bosch GT40 (Sports Version)
There is a big price difference between them too, I myself just went for the standard, as it should easily be enough, but those with extra compression or GZE/GTE should probably go for the GT40 for a stronger spark.

the 4A-C has a dirty fuel problem so the lines are a bit clogged...
i had to change the coil and went for the GT40 without the resistor so just used the old one.. and straight away you could tell the difference.. it runs a lot better and accelerates smoother. not sure if the spark is better but i put it down to having a new coil. it's just 30 bucks for me anyway..
will clean the fuel line soon.

GT40 = teh ultimate in budget bogan coils 
Any point ignition system is CRAP, plain and simple, no exceptions. Resistors are only used in point systems to act as a current limit to avoid frying the coil and the points, because the points have no ability to control the dwell time accurately (it varies with engine speed)
Just use the standard 4AG igniter/coil unit, will do the job just fine.
