I bought these celicasupra RCAs a LONG time ago - assuming they would fit RA6x - and tried installing them in my RA65 today.

Well, they don't. The bolt pattern is correct as expected, and the bottom of the RCA matches the steering arm perfectly, but they won't bolt up the the bottom of the strut - the ring that locates in the base of the strut is offset. I could just grind it off, but that's not a very elegant solution.

Now my question is - might AE86 RCAs fit RA6x struts? IIRC someone here or on the old celicasupra forum tried AE86 RCAs on ther MA6x and they didn't fit because the locating ring was offset... which sounds like exaclty what I want. Can't find anything searching though.

Take some measurements of your strut and let me know. I have some AE86 RCA drawings somewhere.

From memory, the centre of the large hole is ~3.5mm offset from the centreline of the two small holes.

And filing all the locator ring isn't that dodgy a solution, the smaller sleeves will still locate it properly and it'll save you buying a new pair of RCAs.

Wonder if any toymodders happen to have an Ra6x strut lying around to save me having to take my strut out.

I realise that it will locate properly, but I figured they wouldn't make RCAs like that without a good reason. Plus, if AE86 ones fit, they are easilly had, and I can sell these on to a toymodder with an MA6x wiht MA6x struts. They're 30 or 35mm; the last celicasupra group buy was for 25mm and the group buy has finished.

Found out that AE86 is 85mm between holes; xA6x is 89mm. I'll just grind one side of the centring ring off when I take the struts out to convert to coilovers.

Also, Whiteline lists same part # for all rwd celicas, MA6x supra, and AE86 Rolling Eyes
