Stripped thread

Hi,
I had to remove a 3/8" BSP coolant fitting from my engine head in the boat, but it was corroded and broke off in there.
I went to gasweld and asked for a 3/8" tap and a suitable drill - they wanted $20 for the tap and $40 for the drill !!!
Does anyone have any better / cheaper way to solve this problem? Currently my best option is looking like getting a suitable bolt and some (lots of) gasket sealant.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Can you get the boat/motor/head to a machinist? They'll probably be able to get it out for you for a small fee...

dare i suggest an EZout or whatever they call them.
have u tried drilling it out with a normal drill, if u keep sharpenin her up u may get it out, and u can buy a whole tap and die set for not too much so i think gasweld is either sellin top of the range gear and over pricing it or just rippin u off
anywho goodluck mate

Solved it - i got a big bolt (slightly smaller than the hole) and just hammered it in, the old bolt just flaked off.
