The head gasket itself can be purchased from $35 to $80 depending on where you shop.

It is strange that the hg has gone on the 5m/6m motors normaly its the 7m's that have a blown hg and the 5m's have stuffed valve stem seals

because i was wondering if it would be worth buying and doing the head gasket...
the only down side to the cressida is that auto... i dont want to be messing around with a manual convertion.

Most MX73's with BHG will be 5M-E, not 5MGE
Vary rare for a 5MGE to BHG, unless its been cooked severly.
