Heya Guys,
Well I'm planning on buying my first car soon and I want to get a RA23/28 or a TA22/23, not sure yet will have to see whats around when I get all the $$$ together. I'm planning on doing an engine transplant(or getting lucky and buying a car with a more powerful engine anyway), I was hoping to put a 3S-GTE into my car. Its my understanding that it will fit, but if I put that engine in would I then need to get the car engineered? Dont the car models I mentioned earlier all come with 2L engines as a standard anyway(I'm not really sure how it all works, so I'm probably wrong). Some advice would be great

You will need to get it engineered if you want to remain above board. Otherwise just do the change and find a 'soft' pink slipper.....
Otherwise go here and get the pdf: guidelines for light vehicle modifications
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/v si06.pdf
That should help clear part of the issues.

you can put any engine in any car and get it pink slipped as long as it doesnt leak oil, steering is good and your lights work etc. you can do as many mods as you want and get a pink slip. its an examination af the cars roadworthy ablity not whether its stock or not. to get a blue slip you are meant to have every mod engineered. itll probably cost you around$500 to get a car engineered each time but you can geet as many mods done at the one time as you want so its good to get the eningeering done very last. however talk to an engineer first and get a print out of what they want you to do beforew you start so they dont right you off once youve spent all your money and think your ready for the road.
