Corona GT-T - 3T-GTEU/Turbo

Hi there, recently aquired a Corona GT-T(very very very scarce, and hard to come across in NZ), 3t-gteu engine/ct20 turbo.. the problem is, when you come outta first gear etc, and put the power on its quite jumpy unless u put alot of power on, and as you slow down it gets quite jumpy, the guy i got it off didnt realise it had lumpy cams and has tuned it trying to get rid of the lumpyness..and has also got the idle at about 1200rpm .. which as far as i was aware should be about 800rpm for a 250lift cam.. so now i've got a car that's kinda running like a bag of shit, what im after is any tuning information at all for a 3t-gteu. How would one go about getting a engine manual?
However, this thing is fuckin fast, and its only the low end that seems to be a miss, if you change gear and lay the power on theres no jumpyness at all, but as you come back through the gears and can get quite jumpy, its almost as if the air/fuel ratio is fucked at the lower rev's, it also appears to be running very rich, theres the distinct smell of unburnt petrol lingering in the air when its idling...but its not REALLY guzzling the gas..im kinda puzzeled as to what it could be, im asking here before i go piss with the timing/a.f ratio's and fuck it even more. some tuning info, spark gaps, timing any tuning info at all would be fuckin mint.

Sounds like you need to take it to a compentent tuning shop with a chassis dyno. Factory tuning specs aren't going to help if the engine has been modified.

Sorry can't help you with that but I gotta ask is your Corona GT-T 2dr HT or 4dr sedan? I think that GT-T 2dr HT Corona is the greatest looking Toyota of the eighties. I wish i'd have one . Good luck with that.

its GT-T 2dr HT Corona without the gay mirrors on the bonnet, its got power mirrors - nice as car.. rides better than any other car ive been in, and the power.. mmm mmm mmmmmmm, kinda unbelievable amount of power/acceleration for such a old car.
Oh! and thats right the dude that had it, put the boost gauge on the overboost pipe, just slit a wee hole and sat it in there, thats on the vacume line, its still reporting 7.5psi on boost, so it doesnt "appear" to be losing any boost through that hole, altho it will be. But the problem is not when boosting its when taking off/slowing down, just generally lower rev's..its like theres a dead spot in the accelerator wheres there no power, its power, drops, power again, and that creates a big jolt, its a long story, my brother used to own it, sold it to a guy down the street, who did it up etc, and i decided it looks so fookin nice/fast i would buy it back, so i did so..when my brother owned it, it ran as sweet as a nut, its not soo sweet now, the guy apparently tryed to tune it to get rid of the lumpyness caused by the lumpy cam, although we tryed to tell him it had lumpy cams..but yeah, ill fix the boost gauge on the vacume line, see if that makes a diff but i dont think it will, but i shell see, this car is painted black btw..nice fat exaust..its a mean car, have you ever seen a 2dr GT-T corona around? they seem to be VERY FUCKIN scarce, only 1 in NZ that im aware of, and tahts me.

I wouldn't say only one in NZ just yet...
There is one in here in Gisborne running in speedway, although it is a TT142 GT-TR model (less fancy options so lighter and quicker). The guy also cut up another one (rusty as, not sure if it was a GT-T or GT-TR) which I grabbed the crossmember from to compare to my TA63 GT-TR Carina one for my Starlet project.
Could you post up the details from your chassis plate? Just curious about the cars that the 3T-GTEU came in.
I have seen other Corona turbos around occasionally but can't recall if they were GT-TR's or GT-T's. There are also two GT-TR 4 door Carina's, and a GT-TR Carina hatch around Gisborne at the moment, all looking dead standard.

Fxied the boost gauge properly with a T connector and there was also a vacume leak on the EFI head!! .. a psssssst..even at idle, fixed that up, and its running as sweet as a nut.. and even boosting at 8psi instead of 7.5psi before. Its deffinatly a GT-T callum, no idea on chassis plate details without looking, 11:20pm here now, ill check tomorow, maybe you could help me with a door mech for the window? if theres a few round there, mine gets half way up then you hafta pull it up to get it to go up, its deffinatly fucked and needs a new one, and im pretty damn sure this is the only GT-T in the south island
