I wouldn't put too much stock in what Toyota sais it's engines put out.
And what version 3S-GE? the one from an ST162?
I wouldn't imagine the AE94 Seca would be as good as the Celica for handeling, and wouldn't be as nice to drive. An AE93 Corolla SX though, that'd be a bit better.

fastest i reckon would be an AE82 with a silvertop.
the blacktops have a free-er top end but its a trade off becasue they dont have as much down low as the silvertops. although the silvertops use an airflow meter rather than a map sensor and blacktop throttle bodies are 45mm as apposed to 43mm for the silvers.
in short, a silver top 20v in an AE82 is bloody quick! and its ALOT faster than i expected and i have driven 86kw twinkys and 100kw ae92 sx's and the 20v was about twice as much fun!

just remember that regardless of the number of valves... it's still just a 1.6L..... a little more efficient, but nothing special...
now if you were talking AE95 with 4AGTE, or ST165 with 3SGTE.. that might be a little more interesting

As long as you like torque steer, yes.
Plan B: Get a RWD or AWD.

i have a ae82 with a silver 20v and gearbox, got 78 fw kw.
i dont find it to be that quik but it compliments the car very well and once it gets into the high revs it starts pulling well, but it takes a while to wind it up from the lower revs. dont know if its just mine, but it needs a tune urgently.

i am getting a JAP SPEC 3s-ge (only a gen1) put into my st162.
according it puts out 117kw at the fly.
whats the power of a blacktop / atw !!! anyone dyno'd theres ! ?
i think the ae92 will beat me (afterall he's paying 3times as much and the engines a 01' with 38.000k on the clock !!!
just wanted your thoughts and some numbers if people had them !!!

Hey, I only got 96.6fwkw N/A and if the traction conditions aren't perfect I find the torque steer to be a pain in the arse! I can't imagine having a 100+fwkw turbo or S/C with all that extra midrange torque.
Anyway, back on topic your friends Corolla wont be that fast. ABout 125kw at the flywheel. You have more torque but a touch heavier. Unless he's modding his 4A-GE, you guys will be even.
And why does everyone ask "is my car gonna be faster than my mates?". Why don't you go find out, then come tell US who's faster?

Now, with the going on about AFM thing. AFM is actualy better in some respects than MAP. AFM is more accurate. I can't remember the specifics. Perhaps someone else can enlighten us.

can't really compare 20v to the gze since they both different but still 4a
kinda like 4ac and 4age
dont think the gt4 will go into a ae92
the euro version might have a 4wd sedan version

20V conversion is getting there. im not going to have it done in time for dyno day which is a shame but id rather have it done to my satisfaction and 100% perfect than squeeze to try to get it done. Money is the only issue but time is also a factor.
if u wana know what a jap spec 3sge goes like ask Rob ST162 because were pretty sure thats what hes got in his.
i actually saw you driving in penno the other day was gona hoot but couldnt be bothered to move my fingers.

AFM measures the MASS of the air going into the engine, so temperature and density are less of an issue.
MAP is easier and less restrictive, but you MUST take into account temperature and density or air.
hotwire is also not so restrictive, and although more control is required, it may be the better solution.

my old 16v ae92 levin kept up with rebuilt(apparently) aus spec 3sge st162. so i reckon a 20v in ae92 would have more punch. but so would jdm 3sge.
my current 20v had a power spike up to 120hp at wheel on dyno. but it had mods and some not working so well parts.

i am hoping to pull out 80kwatw from my jap spec 3s-ge, if robs aust. spec, with jap internals and extractors gets 83.8kw i am hoping to pull out 80.
as for the blacktop 20v, my mate wants it to pull 90atw , but we wil have to wait and see !!!!
dom: yeh man i have been working out victoria ave. way in castle hill lately !!!!! plus driving thro penno to uni and back !!!
when the conversions both get dun, early december !!! we ll get some results up !!!!

just adding to your info,
ive got a 16v bigport putting out 83rwkw.
No need for 2L when a 1.6L can give you what you want

What? The 3S-GE only has 173nm? That's less than my B18C2.
Anyway, b1gb3n's 20v sprinter got 84.1Kw (113Hp) @ 7478rpm & 119.7Nm @ 5289rpm on the Beninca dyno.

Only 4age car i have driven was an AE111 levin with a black top 20V redline 8000rpm cutout (no idea), only took it to 5000rpm had kicked into the power curve yet, was fairly responsive and quick but not overly great.
But i am used to torque at 2800rpm and at the most 5000rpm shift points so its a totally different ball game for me.

factory @ the fly specs, not dyno atw specs
can be found on the redbook.com.au, drive.com.au, carsales.com.au, club4ag, google, etc...
i wouldn't say its how much power you have, more like what power its rated or could have... (at the fly)
