	| yeah, my gains I think will be a bit different to typical gains
I would think a fair amount but can't really guess a number. The basics are that most people can make close to 300rwkw through an auto with stock cams and a decent single turbo setup. If you want much more than that, it is a good idea to upgrade the cams and valve train to allow more air at higher revs and also be able to rev the engine higher which will also allow it to make more power.

I can't remember where I found it, but there is a graph of different cams for the 2jz. It is for HKS ones but you get the idea, has stock cams, 256's, 264's and 272's. The 256's and 264's seems to bring the power on a bit quicker and make more power in the top end whereas the 272's had similar low down power to stock cams but more top end than all other cam setups. This is HKS ones which are 9.0mm lift for 256 and 264 and 9.3mm and 9.0mm for 272's (exh and inl) are different. The ones I am looking at are the 272's with 9.1mm lift or possibly the 268/276 9.5mm and 10mm lift as I am now thinking of getting the valve springs and retainers as well and may as well go all out

Going to ask Manny about interference on the 1jz engine now.

	| He said that HKS/JUN say that anything above 9.0mm becomes an interferance engine. Snapped a timing belt with 9.0 264's and no bent valves.
So any of these options make the engine interference.

	| Have you spoken to Wade cam's in Victoria? Wade ground me up a brand new set cams for billet castings they do and they cost me in AUD what you are looking to pay in USD.

	| Clive Cams here in Vic is able to get billets for the 2JZGTE so you might wish to investigate if they are the same as 1JZGTE cams. Last time I chatted to Clive (two years ago), he was quoting $700 + GST for the pair. | |

Michael, don't know what other billets he is able to get.

Also try Kelford Cams in NZ. Tighe and Wade have already been mentioned.

	| So are new billet ones cheaper than adding metal and regrinding stock ones? I got quoted $1250 for regrinds which I thought was pretty damn steep considering the price of second hand HKS cams.
I may give these guys a call and see what they can do.

2jz cams need to be modded to fit in a 1jz. Crower are getting someones stock cams and making them exactly the same but with more aggressive lift and duration but it will be bolt in, no modding bizzo.

Unsure. I read it on SF.com. A guy fitted stock 2j cams into his 1j to see if there was any difference in power. (negligible) He said that some part of it had to be ground back or something like that. I don't really know the specifics.

Spoke to Tighe and they were trying to sell the regrinds rather than new ones and they are $1200ish.
