an AW11 question Thu, 06 June 2002 17:31 Go to next message
Guys
I own a 1987 NA AW11
I just relocated the Air Flow Meter to sit next to the TVIS. And wacked a 5" UNI pod filter on the other side.
Heres what happened: It sounds great, really deep and throaty.
When the TVIS kicks in its great, nice and torquey. However when the revs are low it seems like it is missing and that it is struggling through the low rev range. Is there any thing I can do to combat this?
Thanks, any info is much appreciated. No No No

I found with my old NA motor that if I mounted the AFM so it was tight to the manifold that it wouldn't run right at low revs. I think the shaking of the motor was moving the vane in the AFM. I fitted a rubber hose about 10cm long between them and bolted the AFM to the rear firewall and it ran fine.

Thanks Ben,
that sounds like a nice tip. But if I insert the 10cm there will be no room for the pod filter as it will run into the left side of the engine bay. Just wondering if you ran into this problem. And what did you do to get around it.
Thanks
Yawn

Mine just scraped in - The hose might have been a little shorter than 10cm, it just needed to have a bit of give in it. I just bought a pipe coupling from a hardware shop.
