After the introduction of the new 4.3L v8 in the new Soarers/SC430
I started to wonder, if it was just the same block as the 1uz-fe just bored out a bit a la datsun 240/260/280/300.
Has anyone bored out their 1UZ-FE? or know how much you can do it safely?

There is a stroker kit for a 1UZ that takes them out to 5L. I can't remember who they're made by, I think I've got the link at home.

If you look at the HKS drag supra it uses a Cast Iron 4.7l which has bee de-stroked to 4.1l, and 2 turbos, 1500hp, cool!!!
I presume it uses the 4.7 from the landcruiser/LX470. Isn't it a 3uz-fe???

1UZ-FE is LS400 4.0L V8
2UZ-FE is 4WD 4.7L cast block V8
3UZ-FE is SC430 4.3L V8

Although most Toyota V8s are Aluminium, the new Landcruiser V8 is an IRON Block

There's a very good reason for that, and its why Mercedes still sells Iron blocks to the Arabian Emirates.
Its because when pollutants enter the engine like sand it can become imbedded in the iron, where as with aluminium it cant so Iron blocks tend to last longer in sandy conditions than aluminium.

Where did you hear that? If sand gets inside your engine it's pretty much fucked, no matter what it's made out of!

Sand does cause real damage, like fucking the motor.
By the way, there are plenty of aluminium engined Lexus 400's in the Middle East dude.

I don't mean like a heap of sand at once, more like a few pollutants every now and again. Its still interesting why they still make cast iron engines for places like that, and you see some cruddy looking Mercedes still running about happy as larry in the middle east many years later.

The use of cast iron has very little to do with "pollutants". There are lots of engines getting around with cast iron blocks these days - the JZ series engines for example are iron, and I doubt there are huge numbers of these going to the Middle East. In this case, iron was more than likely chosen for its strength. Then there's engines like the Ford 4.0 and the Holden V6, both of which have iron blocks. In their case I would guess that cost is the biggest reason for its use, since iron is cheaper and easier to work with than aluminium alloy.
