mx83 and 1jz install..q's about r154/1jz/computer setup! Tue, 22 November 2005 05:28 Go to next message
have read that jzx81 chaser 1j's fits straight into mx83, and crossmember off chaser is not needed in the late 91/92 mx83, it bolts straight up.. i will be putting engine in with mechanic mate and boys help. this is wat im thinking, buy the jzx81 1j mark2 engine and r154 gearbox separate. I know id need to get a microtech ltx12. ill be able to get it wired up, but do i need to install the standard ecu for anything?!
is there anything else i need to keep in mind when putting in 1j and r154?! read that firewall needs to be bashed in a little bit for 154 to fit, apart from that anythign esle?!

the stock JZX81 auto ECU works fine with the R154. That's what I run in my R154'd chaser.

You need to bash the trans tunnel for box clearance, and need a custom tailshaft.

If you can get your hands on the pedal box and clutch master/line from a manual GX81 1GGTE frontcut then that's the neatest fit in the cressida.

cool, so just wire up stock ecu.. dont worry mate ill bash that trans tunnel for clearance!!
how much is the custom tailshaft?read that maybe 2 piece or best just get single custom?
is there anything else i could use instead of the pedal box and clutch master/line from a manual GX81 1GGTE?! just incase i can't get my hands on one of them?
also any probs with the 1j auto been converted to the manual with r154.. any gears cutting out, idel probs etc?!

mine has zero probs running the auto ECU with the manual box. rev's to 7K cleanly in all gears, idles around 600rpm from what I can tell from the digital tach, cold idle and electrical idle up all work too.

I'm using a two-piece tailshaft with the front modified to take the R154 yoke, then both halves were balanced again after the mod.
