I accidentally picked up a zoom magazine, because it had the 1JZ RA23 in it... It opened the story with something along the lines of "If you think of an engine conversion in an RA23, it is usually a 3SGTE. This is due to their low price and ease of fitment..." The rest of the article was ignored nonetheless.
On the original topic: Surely you understand the concept of searching an established knowledge base in which nothing is new. I have a spare Lada Niva gearbox available if you want. This then bolts to a propellor, and the conversion is complete...
Sorry, it's late

Number 89. It has HYP077 in it. Verbatim I shall quote it (in short form, so I don't void copyright):
"...If you put the words 'Celica' and 'conversion' together, most people would jump to the conclusion you are talking about 4A-GE and 3S-GTE powered RA23 or RA28 celicas. It's a reasonable conclusion to draw, as these engines are a relatively cheap and simple swap for an early celica..."
Obviously toymodder's should stop whinging and just do it...
That was the moment Zoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom fell down to the 'don't buy or read' level previously attained by publications like fast fours... I think I'll stick to reading SAE papers from uni

you can use either a supra g/box with a 2s/2cdiesel bell housing or a split case style with a S series bellhousing, however you will need to have a flywheel made to suit that also holds the spiggot bearing from memory. Or you could listen to everyone here and sit on your ass and not even have a go at it and then throw around pointless advise!

5-speed automatic box.
And as mentioned just above there's the 2S bell housing conversion option.

No.
He has obviously done the search thing and found that no one has done this conversion before and there is no information available.

It can also be done using the 2T bellhousing and T50 gearbox.
But only if you are VERY determined and have machining facilities. Like me. And I'm only a pom! And yes, it is raining!
Almost anything is possible, just look at some of the fantastic engineering displayed on this forum. It's an inspiration! Thanks again guys!

I want to do a cheapie RWD conversion.
In a related but slightly hijacky kind of way, will the 2S flywheel bolt up to a 3SGE? Looking to use the Bogwarmer 5 speed seeing as you can get these for free.

There is not point oin doing a 2T bellhousing with the T50 as you can already get a 1S/2S bellhousing standard on a T5o, i have 3 sitting in my workshop!!! Thats just my opinion any way.

Dave, a 1S & 2S have a 5 0r 6 bolt crank from memory, all 3sge have 8 bolt cranks.
However it would give you the perfect template to copy for having a 8 bolt billet flywheel made up!

That's all well and good but your workshop is 12,000 miles from England and we don't have ST141 Coronas or similar to cannibalise. Or 2c diesels for that matter.
Like I said it's a matter of determination. There's a great deal of satisfaction to be gained by seeing through a difficult project. There doesn't need to be a point, just a DESIRE!
I could easily have fitted a FORD or VAUXHALL engine and box. At times I wish I had! But the end result was worth all the heartache. I have had enquiries regarding 3SGE RWD conversions from other TOYMODS members in the UK, purely as a result of this forum. Go look at JOELS 3SGE RWD conversion in this forum for some inspiration. BRILLIANT!! First class engineering and problem solving.
Here's one I made earlier.http://ntlworld.photobox.co.uk/album/album.html?c_ album=1460235
