do people suggest it or just use a bit of oil? is it needed?

i havent used locite on any of the motors i have done at work. and never had any dramas.
just use a little oil on the surface where the bolt head sits, to the tension will be correct. should be all good

yeh, if u have some moly lube, thats the best stuff

ARP have a "rod lube"... its just moly lube like Mr DOHC said though.
