Hey everyone im just after some help with the dodgy old paintwork on my celica. The problems is that on the bonnet and roof there are some pretty big chips some around a cm wide, and in the chips there the paint is all white so theres little white speckles all over the roof im wondering what this could be from and how to fix this, my cars red so they stand out pretty bad, polish didnt seem to fix it for me either.
thanks for any help

Sounds like you've gone through to the primer, paint is about the only fix for this.
Older cars like the RA28, TA22 etc. were painted in acrylic which doesn't last anywhere near as well as current 2 pack paints.

the other possibility is that the chips have gone through the clearcoar. Unfortunately polish comes up white if not buffed out properly, so you could have actually filled in the chips with polish (ed has had this problem).
of course, if you car doesn't have a clearcoat that discounts this possibility

If the paint is acrylic, you may have alittle more luck by using a very fine grit sand paper say 2000,cut the clear back. You may then be left with enough to polish or atleast reapply a clear coat.
best of luck
