1jz-gte vs 2jz-gte
I know a lot of people have done the 1jz-gte into the cressida, is there a reason why the 2jz-gte isn't done? is it problems with fitting, high cost? Its just that a lot of people say that the chaser front cuts are getting hard to find. And by the time I can rig it all up It'll probably be even harder to source one.

Basically it stems around the fact that say you had an MX83 Cressida, if you got a JZX81 Chaser front cut, everything would swap over, much easier than custom making a heap of stuff.

Ahh fair enough and from some emails I got it seems the 1jz-gte is a fine engine as it is, except for that Y piece on the two turbos.

the 1j is a great engine but the 2j would be nicer for slow cruzing this is the only time i miss the 7M's extra .5 liters THE ONLY!!! time the 1j is supirior in EVERY other respect... the 2j could only be better.....i bet the conversion wont be as easy or as OEM as mine though Wink

MX83 is 'sort of' like an MA70. Arnout has a website outlining the installation of a 2JZGTE into an MA70. This will give you some clues.
I think the website is www.supras.nl (or something like that).

well what id do if i were you... msg jayzee i think he has a spare jzx81 cross member.. if memory servs me well the 1j and 2j mounts are exactly the same.... shape, pattern and location i guess this would be a good starting point for the convo....this way there is no chopping and welding and the steering and suspention can stay the same....you could use the cressi radiator and the gbox crosmember off the cressi should fit or be easily modded to fit....the speedo cable should screw in and grant from sixworks has made a converter so your tacho works...what you'll have to sort out is the wiring and a coola other that that you'll need pacients, money and time ohh and pacients....good luck

The 1JZ engine mounts I have seen (from a JZA70) are very different to the engine mounts that were on my 2JZ. The mounting points on the block are identical though, so you can put 1JZ mounts on a 2JZ block or vice versa.
