interchanging parts (brake and sus upgrade) Sun, 04 December 2005 09:13 Go to next message
ok. just had a brain wave. i bought some ST141 struts ages ago with the intention of making coilovers for the 86.
the sleeve kit i bought fits over them perfectly, i already removed teh spring seats.
now, i am upgrading my brakes, i have a set of nissan s14 4 piston callipers. i just tried to fit them to the ST141 struts. guess what THEY DIRECTLY BOLT ONTO FACTORY POSITION
thats right, direct fit.
now i heard that these callipers bolt onto ra60 struts as well,
-does this mean the struts are the same (diameter too)?
-i dont think the ST141 strut goes on the AE86 steering arms,so
-If theh RA60 struts bolt into AE86, does this mean the RA60 bolts to the steering arm.

What im trying to get at is
Are the ST141 and RA60 struts the same diameter so i can use the sleeve kit?
and are the bolt hole spaces the same distance for brake callipers?
and does RA60 strut bolt to AE86 steering arm?

Sorry bout the long winded message and the questions, but i think i just worked out a brake upgrade without having to get calliper brackets made......info would be great
cheers
here is the ST141 strut (unshortened), nissan calliper and coilover sleeve

Step 1) Measure the ID of the sleeve.
Step 2) Search for the MA61 Coil over threads and recorded the ID needed for RA6x / MA61 struts
Step 3) Compare ID's.

I suspect they have the same strut dia Smile

Cheers

What discs are you going to be useing with the s14 calipers, and would you need to upgrade brake booster to get the 4 spot calipers to work properly? if so what are you upgrading that too?

Just tryna find out a decent brake upgrade that isnt too hard but does the job better then stock brakes.

cheers
