I'm talking about the two curved guides that guide the chain out to the cams.
toyota wants like $170 and $156 for them....

I've got the parts numbers for them if you need them (from engine parts australia website, but it seems to have disappeared). I too need a pair for my 18RG..

I had an 18rg-ue already i had bought new valves and all new guides and i pretty much sold it for nothing, but i needed the money at the time so i know how much it all costs thats why im keen if anyone has any ideas.
Surley you can bond some form of rubber like a hard wearing butal on to the old guide the trucking and automotive industry can do it with brake shoes why cant we do it with engine guides?
Theres some pretty fancy adhesives out there does anybody know anyone in 3M or some other company like that that would have an idea on what to use?

i used to get parts from them but they were bought out by "NASON Engine parts", who are in Alfred rd, chipping norton. they still sell from the door with good prices tho...

i rang them first but they said they did not do them as they are import only.

if you could send me the part numbers i will ring em again and see what they can do, do a bulk order or something... there are chaps in the US wanting these too...

There is a place in Bayswater near Melbourne called Toyospares or something similar. They are good there and have cheap prices. I picked up a full timing kit for my 18R-C for $75. Autobarn were going to charge me $60 for the upper and lower chains alone!

you can get the upper and lower timing chains from qpd in brisbane as well as the timing cogs but they cant get guides... 18rc guides are very close and i am considering seeing how gooda matxch they are. yopu may be able to get some alloy or metal ones machined up.. machining places will be able to do it
