Help, advice needed for dead 5ME in MA61

Hi Guys,
My 5ME in my supra shit itself today It was making LOUD noises, lost a lot of power, was blowing smoke and spraying oil back up through the dipstick tube - Looks like it's dropped a piston or something
So I'm looking for a new engine to put in it, and since it's off the road anyway I'm looking into a few options...
Easiest/cheapest - Straight swap for another 5M-E, has anyone got a cheap 5M lying around, or know of a place in Sydney to get one ? SUPRAGTE have you still got the 5M you were going to sell form a few months ago ?
Bit More Difficult/expensive - Put a 7M-GTE or GE in, sorry I know this has been discussed before but what exactly is involved in doing this, from my understanding the following is true/required:
Should bolt up to gearbox and engine mount without modification
Change sump/oil pickup (& pump ??) for 5ME
New exhaust section will have to be fabricated
Wiring will need to be changed over to new 7M computer - how much hassle is this (I am an electronics engineer so have some abilities in this dept.) although if it's a major PITA then I guess an aftermarket computer ??
Also I gather an engineers cert. will be required - how difficult is it to get this and how much will it cost ?
Is there anything else I'm missing - seems a little to easy !?
Sorry about all the questions, but I know a few of you have done this engine conv. and just want to get some idea of how big this job is,
Cheers,
Matt.

You've covered most of it there. The major challenge is the wiring side of things, but anyone with half a brain and the ability to read a wiring diagram shouldn't have a problem. You're an electrical engineer so you're laughing!
Add to the list intercooler piping if you're installing a GTE. Apparently you can bodge something up using stock Mk3 IC pipes, but since they're pretty restrictive anyway I reckon you're better off paying for steel tubing. It's easy enough to get this done at the same time as the exhaust mods.
Another option you didn't mention is a 6M-GE swap, which isn't much harder than swapping in another 5M-E and goes a whole lot better. My MA61 was bucketloads of fun with one of these, especially with a 5-speed.
