looking at aftermarket turbos for the 1jz... would a T4 be worth it? what sort of HP are they rated to?
'cause a guy I know can get me one for $1200 (which sounded like a pretty damn good price to me)

T4 is ok, but it's pretty old-school technology. Definitely not on the same level as the GT series and other modern turbos. There are about a billion different trims available for T4's, so you'd better find out the specs to see if it's suitable for your needs.

does $1200 sound like a good price?
'cause most of the GT turbos go for US$3000+ , which is a little out of my price range

the T04 is different (I think?)
if they have a T04E for $1200, i might have to talk to them... afaik the T04E is a pretty decent turbo

GT series turbos start at a little over AU$2k. Some of the huge ones go for a lot more than that though.
