calibrating speedo with w55 & ra28 speedo stock diff

Hello, just wondering if anyone has had much luck with putting a w55 into a ra2x with stock speedo and diff and getting it calibrated?
I find it to be about 20% out or so, 100km would show on the speedo as 120 etc.
I thought tonight maybe the original sender out of the w50 would fit so pulled the w55 sender out but are completely different in shape and size.
Any ideas?
Cheers

I heard there are about 5 different senders... but I found my 58 to be quite accurate, just as accurate as the 50 used to be

Ahh you must have got the correct one.. Guess there is different amounts of teeth etc and would depend on diff ratio.
Any ideas where there might be a source of different senders? Doubt importers would like selling them individually.

Yeah man, I'm in the same boat. Alot of people reckon you can't get different senders, but I reckon I've heard theres a few different ones too.
The other option is a little reduction gearbox, which I've been quoted $200 for!!! I laughed about as hard as you must be right now!
Although that place called gauge works, been advertising recently, I've been thinking of trying them. But that's sorta been put on hold, as you might understand.......

You need to find a vehicle which has a W5x transmission and the same diff ratio as you currently have. Simply take the nylon speedo gear out of that transmission and whack it in your W55. That should solve all your problems!
If you currently have a 4.1:1 diff, you should find what you're looking for in an RA6x Celica.

RA6x's came with a variety of diff ratios. I'm almost certain I've seen at least one with a 4.1:1 diff.

be cool norbs, i aint saying your wrong, was just adding that the manual RA60 came with 3.9
although i suppose it wouldnt be the toymods forums if there wasnt an argument going on so i say norbie you are wrong i have difinitive evidence that the RA60's never came in 4.11 ratio, the evidence is from a website that has expired long ago in a galaxy far far away

You should be able to get differnet speedo drive gears...
In the Ford world there gears were colour coded for different diff ratios.
2.75:1 is a reddy brown colour from memory
stuffed if i can remember the others!
