Looking for some advise/opinion on standalone EMS for 3TGTE motor Fri, 07 June 2002 21:01 Go to next message
I am putting a fully built 3TGTE motor in my RA60 celica, with T3/T4 turbo, good size intercooler, 550cc injectors, all I am looking is nice, easy tuning, good for the money standalone EMS to go with it. so I can run 14psi+ with no problem on the fuel support. I have heard friends mentioned about the HALTECH and MICROTECH. anybody have experience on them? Thanks for any replies!!!

G'day,

i'll mention this thread to a mate of mine, he had an ems on a 3tgte in his last car.

i spent alot of time playing with this car, and would not recommend ems.
unfortunately i don't have any suggestion as to what else to use, well not from experience anyway. from what i have seen and heard of haltech, i would definately be looking serious at them.

Sorry i can't offer better advice,
Stew

I'm running an Autronic SMC on my 3t-gte with direct fire ignition. Very happy with it!

i think that it depends on who is going to tune it at what they are used to using, if you are going to do it your self good luck.. I am using a Microtech mtx8 which has been fine with heaps of tuneability if you know how to use it. (i don't)

The best Engine Managgement System for you really does depend on who you are able to get to tune it. The Autronic SMC, EMS Dual Sport, Haltec or Wolf 3D are all more than capable with varying areas of comparison. If your local guy doesn't know how tune it tho its useless to you.

The new version of the Autronic SMC has an Autotune function so if your doing the tuneing yourself I'd recommend that.

Hope that helps,
