What's in the '81 Soarer

Hi all,
My mate just got given an '81 soarer as a present and wants to know what kinda power his engine makes. He THINKS it's a 3.0L straight 6. Any ideas?
Also, which engine code is it (car is in a workshop so we couldn't check):
5M-GEU 170hp
M-TEU 145hp
1G-EU 125hp

I just checked here:
http://www.thermactor.com/files/pages/Info/toyoeng .html
and it could be:
2.8L DOHC inline 6 5M-GE 12v
or 2.0L SOHC inline 6 M-U 12v
or 2.0L SOHC inline 6 1G-EU 12v (most likely)
or 3.0L DOHC inline 6 7M-GE 24v
(hmm not likely, even tho he thinks it might be a 3L)

That would be a Z1 Soarer, its most likely its got a 5MGE if he thinks its closer to 3l. Have a look, the 1GEU will look lost in the engine bay like it does in mine

Most Z1's over here are 2.0l I believe.

It's definitely not a 7M if it's an 81 model... they didn't exist until 85/86.
Get your friend to check his build plate, that will have the engine code on it!

My 81 Celica XX has a 1GEU.
