3TGTE/2TG TA22 Celica Thu, 23 January 2003 04:11 Go to next message
Hey all, i'm contemplating selling my celica, just want to see how much I could get for it so I can work out if its worth selling. This isn't an add (yet), but just want to know what you guys would pay for a celica like mine.

1972 TA22 (flat lights, fuel filler in boot)
Body
-Resprayed Glacier white 3yrs ago (quite immaculate)
-'Jellybean' 13" with Yokohama all round.
-Lowered
-GT bonnet flutes
-GT indicator lenses
-Sunroof
-Solex Locks
-Immobiliser/Shock sensor remote alarm
-Airhorns
-bumpers sprayed white (good condition)
-2inch stainless exhaust with 2 resonators (not loud)

Interior
-Recaro Sports seats
-Momo gearknob
-Resurfaced instrument cluster (checker)
-retractable seatbelts
-Sports steering wheel
-JVC CD player, 12" pioneer sub, pioneer 6" and 5", 240Watt amp

Engine
OPTION 1
-2TG running at the moment
-recently rebuilt (under 30,000kms)
-mild cams
-#222, stock most power from factory
-HP clutch
-tuned length genie extractors
-lightened flywheel
-gilmore pulley set
-18RG tuned twin sidedraughts
-electronic ignition
-polished rocker cover

OPTION 2
-fully reconditioned 3TGTEU, including new gaskets, rings, bearings, valve seals, cut down loom, etc
-GT4 intercooler
-CT20 turbo, manifold etc
-engine running/complete, polished, etc

With Option 2 there would obviously be no engineering and registration with the turbo, but could run it legally NA. There is a small amount of rust appearing at the bottom of the passenger side door, a couple of small scratches/dents but a very straight car. Can send more photos.

Man i reckon its a shmick car and i'd think you'd get at least $4k with the current 2TG setup and stereo, alarm paint interior if the body is as good as it appears. Hell yeh.

If you threw the 3T-Gte in it probably $6k at least, maybe $7k? It seems quite immaculate and i wouldnt put it past it. especially if you find the right person, or sold the 2T along with it, you may be able to get more. (or keep either engine?? they seem like both good motors, worth a bit)

Peace

Guy

The problem is the car looks good at a distance, but theres small rust spots comming through around the window seals. It is a fun car to drive, i really would miss it if i sold it. now an RA28 would be a sweet car to replace it!

wayne, it looks like i will be selling the 3TGTE, just a matter of when, but i have put shitloads of work into it so i would want at least what i've paid for it. how much do you want to pay, remembering that it is completely reconditioned?? I should be advertising it in a month or so, depending on if i can register it for longer with the turbo.

BTW how did you go with posting that dump-pipe?

Hi,
i noticed that u were thinking about replacing the ta22 with an ra28, ive got a yellow one in almost as good nick as your ta22 with an 18rg (healthy), extractors, 2 inch exhaust etc , but not nearly as much aftermarket gear. If u were interested in doing a trade id be happy to make up the amount.

if your interested, let me know

Cheers, Loki

umm.. well looking at all the cuts on my hands i'm thinking i don't want to pull another engine out of my car for at least another month, maybe two (i worked out i swap engines on average once every 4.8 months since i bought the celica, just over two years ago Rolling Eyes ). theres no way i would sell it for bellow the cost of parts ($2000), i've just spent too many hours on the thing.
