I've seen a 5SFE Celica been modded with a 3S-GTE turbo kit. It was in an edition of Hot4's. There was quite a bit of mucking around though. Expensive pistons, new computer, intercooler that wasn't easy to fit without cutting... Don't really know if it would be worth it after all that trouble. Realistically, you would be paying more to do the mods that what the car is currently worth.

Sure you can go 'it's a waste of money, buy a gt4' or something, but I like the thought of making a sleeper or just extra go.
Doesn't have to be an earth shattering 10 second car. Plus I like the look of my widebody car. I think the SXV20R is the square one though isn't it?
But anyways, you'll find it hard to get an answer on a 5sfe here, or anywhere. (I know, I'm probably the only other one here with one).
Hopefully in the near future I'll be doing some stuff that I can't currently get help on. Don't get me wrong, I love the community here, it's just us poor camry guys are a very small minority here.
Oh yea, there is a turbo kit, at $2500 USD though. Plus it's not currently for a camry 5sfe. Pity though, there is lots of huge empty space in my engine bay that I could fit lots of crap into. With the price of that kit though, it would be just as cheap to get a soarer v8 and throw that in. Or even better, a 3vz-fe. It can legally just be put in no worries because it's an option on the model. Plus there is a supercharger kit for that v6.
Sports exhausts: Just go to any exhaust shop. Won't be cheap though, lots of plumbing in these things.

Well not really asking for my Camry to become a 10sec car... but just wanted some extra hp(currently only 98hp ).
Well if its too expensive to mod i won't be modding it then, but i reckon $5000AUD for that turbo kit isn't too expensive. Do you know where to get it i would like some more info on that kit u mentioned Apollo?
There seems to be lots of AE86 owners here...
I would like to buy a SW20 later this year. Anyone got any tips on what to look for when buying a SW20 MR2?

It's more like 98kW. Not hp.
Apollo, The SXV20R Camry is the one you have and no, the Kazuma TRD supercharger kit won't fit as the master cylinder and other parts are in the way of the pulley in RHD form and only works on the non VVTi 1MZ-FE.
If you are after a bit of kick, up the timing and maybe do an intake and exhaust modification. Don't expect too much out of the 5SFE. It runs fine as an econo car but it's not a sports car by any stretch of the imagination.

I thought I said 3vz-fe supercharger.
I know it's not going to be a sports car in the sense, but a bit more peformance will turn it into a beast of a sleeper. That's what I'm personally after. If I wanted a sports right now, I'd sell my car and get something else. Just like everyone else has........ See what I'm getting at?

There is a 5S-FE turbo kit from the USA, which is originally designed for a Celica, but I have seen it installed in a Camry. But by the time you get it over here, it would have been cheaper and better to do a 3S-GTE swap, which I have seen as well.
To modify the exhaust is easy. The 5S-FE shares the same exhaust manifold as the 3S-GE, so you can use Celica extractors, together with a complete exhaust change. Otherwise get a cat back system change. Any good performance exhaust shop will be able to give you more detailed advice.

There is no super charger option for the 3VZ-FE. Only the 1MZ-FE non VVTi

Now I think on it, I think that is correct. I can't find where I saw it though, but it said for a v6 camry. And yea, the 1mz was an option on the camry. I conceed good sir.
A 3sgte swap is still an option. Would really make a good sleeper.
Interesting about the manifold though, that it's the same as the 3sge. Pity the heads arn't compatible though, or I'd be doing that swap for sure.
One question about the exhaust, the shop says $98 fitted for a 'sports muffler'. Is that just a generic thing, or is there a good brand/one I can look for? I want flow+quiet. I want the power, but not a riced farter.
