I want to add power steering to my 83 sprinter with 4ac engine, is it possible ? could i take out the air conditioning compressor and put the power steering pump in its place ?
What other parts would i need to do the conversion ?

You'll need the PS rack - good luck finding one!

Ok well that being the case....... and not that I'm into drifting myself, but does it make it harder or easier to drift race with or without PS????
Just curious!!

I always though the only time you can really tell is when you are trying to park...
once you are doing any speed the steering becomes fairly light...
Who needs power steering anyway, a good dose of horse roids will give you big enough arms to turn the wheel.

WTF, are you a 12 year old girl? Power steering in a tiny little AE86, that's comical!
I drove my Supra for about 12 months with no power steering, and that had chunky 225 tyres and a big lump of six cylinder engine up front. I didn't have any problems doing a few laps at Qld Raceway with that contraption, so I'm sure you'll manage with your lightweight Corolla.

Damn my identity is out !
really driving around and that is not a problem as you say the steering is very light , but there is no way on earth that i could flick the steering wheel from full lock to full lock on an instant. unless you have a secret you can tell me how

First of all, lets get one thing straight - are you planning on executing a full on tyre smoking 'drift', or a little bit of throwing the car around in the wet/gravel? How big are you tyres? How much castor you running? If you can't answer those questions, you sure as hell don't need power steering My AE86 has got shorter steering arms, extra castor and while others tell me the steering is heavy, personally I can't see any problem with it at all. The only other use of power steering is with rediculously quick ratios e.g. V8 supercar steering rack which is about ½ a turn either way. Out of interest, what engine has you car got?
