I have one of the folding type JDM levin grilles, though I doubt you'll want to pay what I'd ask.
the price starts with a 5.

*LMAO* you think I'm an idiot don't you?
a std OZ spec sprinter grille is worth $50.
JDM levin grilles often start at $250,I've yet to see the version I have offered for sale in OZ.
levindrifta sounds like he feels he HAS TO have one,so he may be willing to pay the ask for one. maybe not too,but I'm not fussed either way to be honest.
maybe try thinking before you post in future...

Hmmm guess you are of the philosophy that.....
"something is worth, what someone is willing to pay"
TRUE... I have to agree..... but the way you responded back was in poor taste...

pretty much,within reason. I'll admit $500 is a lot for a grille,
but at the same time, how badly do you want one,and how easily can you get one from somewhere else?
my GT Apex elec. + folding mirrors would be sold for similar money, and my 6.7" disc rear end would go for three times the ask above. provided I actually wanted to sell them of course.
if people aren't told what things go for,how will they find out?
TRUE... I have to agree..... but the way you responded back was in poor taste...
>LOL @ $500 for a bit of plastic!!
ever priced old GT Falcon bits? how about this: 14x6" 5 slot STEEL wheels, original XY GT issue,$1500,set of four! a guy at work who has a replica paid that much for a set,and two were buckled! he also paid $1100 for a steering wheel...
you think I'm asking too much? Gt bits are easier to find than a lot of the sprinter parts are.
clear flat levin grilles go for $150-250 on average, dependant on condition.
I have the folding type, complete with actuators sitting here, which I've not seen on a car in oz besides mine yet. the folding type is a flat panel with 2" high LEVIN across the front when closed, and is a three slat grille with a TwinCam16 badge on the N/S when open. quite rare, and I'd prefer to keep it,but if someone REALLY wants one,the ask is $500.
I want a pair of JDM bucket seats, and will happily pay the going ask for a 2nd hand pair of recaros for them, around $900. you'll be lucky to ever find a pair for sale though. trueno panels are the same, and so are JDM levin grilles.
you'd think $900 is a stupidly high price to pay for factory seats wouldn't you?

Yeah, you can get lucky occasionally with people who don't know what they have.
the grille in question was part of the deal when I bought my current car. I bought a twin cam sprinter to replace the rusting SOHC car I was then driving, and all the bits the guy had as one package. I am currently driving around with a std OZ-spec black grille on the front of the car,as I'd hate to come out from work one day and find some prick had reversed into the JDM one.
I've already had to replace one of my spotlights due to that,so the grille is at home for safe keeping.
I put it on now and again.

I have no fucking idea what you mean by the "folding grill??"
Does it actually move?? like with little motors or something.... like when a Porsche Boxter goes above 90km/h the little stability wing on the back goes up???
Fergo show us some pics of the FOLDING GRILL and you might get some folding stuff sooner than you think!!
I would love to see what this thing looks like!!
By the way I wasn't getting narky on your ass in the earlier post.. ok?? just was strange the way you worded it!!! Not like you at all!!!
Catch ya

Hey Fergo,
Sorry to disappoint you but I've got one on my 86 as well. Bought it off Toby Hunt 6 months ago or so for $300 complete set-up. Mind you, it took us a while to work out how to wire up the sucker.
Speedcore ... you had a chance to look at one when I gave u a lift in me car last weekend. Guess we were just so interested in your project that I forgot to point out my grill. Also, guess also the fact that the flap was up and that my car looks like a bomb (for the moment), you wouldn't have looked at it a 2nd time ... ha hah ...
Here's a pic with my grill with the air slot open:
And here's a front shot of it in the shut position with the Levin sign on it:
I bought mine as I know they are rare as hens teeth so the $300 price didn't hurt so much. Fergo's is the newer one with 2 lines however I went for the black one as I'm (hate to admit it) an Initial D fan and these are the exact grills that both Itsuki has on his AE85 and Akiyama Wataru has on his turbo AE86.
There have been a couple of clear Levin grills for sale ... I wouldn't pay more than $250 max for one of them.
Fergo ... just a quick question though, in the 'down' position, I take it that it will only open in REALLY bad situations when the motor / radiator etc heat up significantly? I've yet to witness my grill operate independently and open by itself when driving? I have to lock mine to get it to stay open. Hmmmmm ....

Stop scaring me!!!! That is a freaky grill!!! So do you have to get out of the car to move it or is it attatched to a temp gauge or thermostat that opens the sucker up when the temp goes up????
Like the ones in Initial D.... well I wouldn't know dude.. I have never seen Inital D.... did a search about 3-4 months ago and saw that it was about some kid driving a sprinter for his dads TOFU shop...... Wonder if his dad uses Genetically Modified soy beans???

Speedcore ... Bill Sherwood has described them on his site as having a thermostat of some sort to monitor the temp however, I can just say that with the brackets I have, there are 2 smaller hose tubes that connect to the radiator hose as far as I can see that then connect to an iron bracket with a spring mechanism to open the grill itself. I'll have to take pics and show you.
As I said, I've yet to witness the grill open on its own accord however once you hook this grill up, you can't change it for a normal one unless you change the radiator hose as well.
I've asked people on Club4AG on how these operate and whether I've hooked it up correctly but NO ONE has one to be able to help. When I get around to it, I'll also pass you some Initial D episodes on tape or something so you can see what all this craze about the 86 is about. Least I can do in return ... btw, I dropped off your spoiler with Ken today so make sure you push him for a discount or something in return.
Widowmaker, the grill does fit in place of the stock australian grill so you don't need to get JDM Levin Headlights BUT the existing brackets have to be cut to fit it in as well as mounting the brackets + joining it up to your radiator hose.
As for selling it, Fergo's already put $500 as a price. I'm not parting with mine but I can tell you that these grills are so rare they are almost non-existant. Many are probably ditched as they seem to impede airflow and in my life, I have only seem these on 1 or 2 AE86's in Japan out of all the myriad of pics you find on the net.
Also, chances are if you find one for sale, it won't come with the hose brackets to connect them up. I believe that Fergo's one might be the 2nd one that Toby Hunt (Aka T on these forums) had sold. If so, I doubt if Fergo's got the existing connecting hose pipe as T only had one available however I believe you can make one up.
Good luck finding one but I doubt your chances though. No harm asking T though ...

I've yet to bother hooking my grille up to the cooling system.
usually I've just locked it open or shut when it's been on the car. works well in winter to help the engine warm up a bit quicker...
having said that,I DO have the piping, actuators, and hoses on hand to connect it,but as I never leave the grille on the car for more than a few days,I've not bothered to take too good a look at it yet. if I can get access to a digital camera,I could take pics if anyone needed to see what the bits look like.
my car has a LOT of JDM bits in the front, which suggests to me that the grille was part of the front cut that has been used to do the engine swap. the car runs an original twin cam wiring loom, and has various bits that a lot of the oz-spec cars lack.
I doubt the grille came from Toby. various bits on my car,and some of the spares that came with it are from all over. the previous owner was a bit of an Ebay addict ^_-...
my grille isn't really for sale, unless someone knocks on my door and presents the amount previously mentioned for it. as has been said, they are pretty much as rare as things get for these cars,
so I'd prefer to hang onto it. maybe when my trueno-fronted project is built I'll sell it.
Justin...
