W40 & W50 questions

The W50 gearbox is a W40 gearbox with a fifth gear attached on the end right? the W40 is borg warner make so one can only assume that the W50 is also borg warner make to?
Both boxes are same series so they are interchangeable. To be exact W-series are Aisin made with Warner desing syncromesh. They dont share same transmission case, W41 and W50 do as should P51 (Porsche desing syncromesh) but im not totally sure about that. They all are steel case boxes.
W40 and W50 are both steel case boxes, but they have alloy bellhousings and extension housings. Don't confuse the W40 4-speed (found in some Coronas) with the Borg-Warner 4-speed (also found in some Coronas).
