TA22 Power Steering???

Hey all, just wondering if it is possible even necessary to attempt to install power steering into a ta22 celica? Before you all prepare to burn me about having girly arms, it's not so much a necessity, just a query. The fact that the ta22 weighs so little would be enough for no p/s wouldn't it? Obviously i have no idea what i'm talking about so guys please..... your opinions.
Thanks in advance.

the short answer is no.
the long answer is not without lots of money, unless there is a power steering rack that will fit into the ta22 with ease i doubt it could happen.

not just the rack, then you have to adapt a power steering pump and and lines, its not cheap, BUT!!! its deffinatly possible.

Personally I really don't think I'd bother... One thing I do think is absolutely woeful in a TA22 is the stocky steering wheel though! Ditch that straight away and you'll be amazed at the difference.
That said, because the TA22 uses recirculating turd steering, I'd imagine it wouldn't actually be all that hard to adapt a steering box from either an old cressida or a crown - whether there'd be ANY feel left in the steering afterwards, I can't say. It'd surely be easier to do than adapting a rack+peanut though. Also, why ASK if the steering is too heavy or not - why not judge for yourself

i have looked into this for my RA40, but i scrapped the idea seeing as my steering isnt that heavy
i have seen the power steering box from an MA45 supra and can say with confidence that its the same as a MX32-62 cressida
ive made measurements and found that it looks like a bolt in swap for the MX32-62 power steering box
as for power steer pump and lines your on your own there..

Well the best (not necessarily the easiest!) way to get a pump attached to the engine is to fit a 3SGTE/1JZGTE/1GGTE/1UZFE/4AGTE/etc. with a pump already attached

TA22's have light steering as is. So to answer the question, yes it's possible and no it's not necessary. Unless you're a girl.

once the things actually rolling its feather light to steer - the recirculating balls up steering sucks tthough - dunno if you could adapt the rack and pinion from a t18 if it has it or a sprinter - but alas - i dont see the point - live with it - it adds to the challenge
