Calling all mechanics....how to remove Camry drive axles from transaxle??

Fellow mechs
How much force does it take to extract the short shaft on lefthand side of transaxle, the one once actually goes into the diff itself. The other end of the shaft bolts directly to the CV joint on end of drive shaft.
So far I have been unable to lever it out or jerk it out by hand, should I be using a slide hammer??
Am I trying to do it all wrong??

Hmmmmm
I must be a pioneer with this little job. Don't really want to take it to a Tojo service center for this little task. I am actually wanting to reshim the tapered roller bearing on the differential carrier.
Surely someone knows something about what normally happens with a task like this???????????????????/

Try the Sharp end of a Tyre leaver. (the end you use to take hubcaps off). It has worked for me before.
In fact you might need 2 of them, 1 either side.
Remeber to drain the Gearbox before you take it out. Very messy otherwise!
Good Luck !
Cheers

I generally use a piece of wood against the inner cv and a big hammer on the end of the wood, the idea is that it forces the C clip inside down and through the groove where it will come out easily. It doesnt take too much to knock one out, its actually quite easy if u do it right, dont attack the cv with a hammer incase you damage it.

Many thanks for the input.
I also approached the foreman of the workshop at local Toyo dealership. He recommended to not bother with reshimming the differential carrier bearing, as he said nearly all of them are sloppy and it makes no difference to their operation.
So it will stay as it is since the man said its quite acceptable!!
Hope this is helpful to a Camry owner someplace or other.
