4AGE tuning problems. Help needed Sun, 02 February 2003 11:05 Go to next message
Having trouble with my motor idling...has anyone had this problem and how did they fix it? At the moment i can't get the engine idle down from 1500rpm. I just changed the throttle body today as there was a leak in the butterfly assembly on the old one but nothing has changed and i can't wind the idle adjustment down any further. Also when i rev it to about 2500rpm and let it go the manifold vibrates harshly at a point in the rev range both on the way up and on the way down. The car is going in for a tune this weekend but we thought the new throttle body would have ironed out a few problems and it hasn't. Has anyone got any ideas?

Manifold vibrates? Sure it's not cracked or the bolts haven't come loose?

To cheak cracks and leak's, get soem aero-strater or 'start-ya-bastard' and spray around manifoild: rev's rise then you got problem.

For the high idle, check that when you have blocked up the vacuum lines you have not simply hooked up a air entry to a vacuum hole... MANY people do this (I had one for a while).
So for each line block it off seperately rather than routing one line to another one...

I went from a high idle of about 1400 to 800. It idles from 700-900 dependant on weather conditions (and accessories on) as the factory VSV (idle up) is not hooked up.

check all the manifold bolts if theyre all tight you may have a cracked/broken inlet manifold, this can happen if the support stay to the block isnt there so check for that as well. if all thats ok then the most likely cause is the idle up needing a blow out/service and the vacume lines checked.
