RA28 diff upgrade - ideas/input etc etc

Ok starting to tackle the job of upgrading the diff in the RA28. After much debating and stuffing around with different options for so long but it has got to the point where I had to make a move.
i've decided just to take the jump and go with the F series..
Here is where I am at....
I have purchased a complete Toyota Crown MS112 with F series disc brake rear end. I figure whatever obstacles will just have to be dealt with as they come along.
Anyhows, was just hoping for some input...
I have the complete MS112, so I can get whatever needed from that. It is F292 on the build plate.
Problems :
1) It is 5 stud and I have just completed the toyots 4 spot/puegot discs, corona strut/hub front brake upgrade which is 4 stud.
So either have rear axles modified to 4 stud, or utalise the MS112 front end on the celica somehow as well and have 5 stud all round (then need new wheels though and already have mags on it).
2)I think the MS112 diff is 1410mm wide, celica is what around 1350? Can this difference be adjusted with different offset wheels, or is 60mm just too greater width to remove with different offset?
Should I be shorting axles instead?
3)LSD centers... What is avaliable for the F series? It appears 4 runners have a F series diff in the front of them. If this is correct I can get plenty of torsen centers, air lockers, detroit etc.
I heard the supras with F series LSDs are quite rare? Or maybe a Liteace 4WD if such a thing exists?
Any ideas/input/assistance would be great!
Thanks
Joel

if you wanted 4 stud perhaps you should have started with the MX10 corona rear end, although converting drum to disc might be another host of problems

If the MX10 rear end is the same width, I probably could just buy a set of axles from one of these?
Yeah the ms112 purchase over the mx10 was mainly due to rear discs.

if you shorten the diff make sure ya get it a little wider than the standard width to compensate for the upgrade on the front

G'day Joel.
Let us know how you get on with this one. The diff I put into the Gold one about 3 weeks ago is making some funny noises. Not that I have been doing wheelies with it, I think it may have been rebuilt and they have done something funny in the centre.
Anyhow I have decided that it is time to upgrade too and I am in the same predicament.
Good luck with it mate

G'day Joel,
My diff is 1375mm from face to face.
you should be able to tell if you can fit the extra width by measuring your tyre to guard clearance.....
i am using a volvo diff, cause they are 1400mm wide, strong as, have a very good disc and hand brake set up, heaps of ratios (i am using 3.9 first)there are alot of aftermarket centres available as they are the same as JEEP diffs (dana 30 i think) plus they are cheap as!!!!!!
i will let you know how it goes when finished..... i have removed the volvo mounts, but need to get down to my uncles to use his hoist to weld new brakets etc....
Cheers
Stew

Keep us updated on the volvo diff!
One idea that has been suggested to me is to use axles from an MX10 Corona (F series also) as the width is around 1385 or so. Then all that needs to be shortened is the housing.
Will have to investigate this further.

welding on brackets without special jigs always bends these toyota axle housings., I had to straighten one bent 20mm (yes !!) the other day by some dumb welding. There is a much better selection of 5 stud discs than 4 stud. changing to 5 stud front hubs is easy--use cressida.Care however, this needs the bigger stub axle/bearings from RA40 onwards struts. Anything bigger than 7.1" is an overkill IMHO. My old celica race car did 4 bathurst meetings with a TRD 7.1" diff and never a problem.
