The two engines share around 70-80% of all the engine bits. the main difference is the head and the pistons, slightly heaver crank and (of course) different manifolds. the rest is all detail differences.

also, the oil pump on the 18r-g has a larger flow rate and (i beleve) a lower operating pressure
