Boost limits on 2JZ GTE

Hi
Anyone experimented with how much boost you can pump out of a 2jz with a totally standard set up. I have just got the car and as u can imagine a boost increase is the first thing on the agenda. Also, the equipment (controllers and defenders) list would be helpful.
I would trust someone on this site rather than half the Habib's in the performance shops around sydney.
any help would be great.

You'll probably find that the ECU is limited to 1 bar (~14.7psi), so you won't be able to bump it any higher than that without modifying it. Is the 2JZ MAP or AFM ? I can't remember at the moment.

your car has a complex turbo setup...dont be like all the habibs and put a turbosmart valve inline and turn it up...basically you'll stuff it all up.. by putting a high flowing exhaust on the boost will rise itself ..then free up the intake a high flow intercoola and you'll find the boost will creep up to the 14 mark itself ...push for more you'll lose realiability but if you'll want more then be prepared to spend the big bucks...

I think the 2jz uses a Karman type airflow sensor???
I think with the sequential turbo's you'll be forced to go for an Electronic Boost controller. I know my HKS EVC3 has a function for sequential turbos, however I'd be stuffed if I knew how to wire it in.

Jap-spec 2JZ's use a MAP sensor.
There's no need for a bleed valve or any other trickery if you're using stock turbos; the factory wastegates are so small that the engine will have overboost problems just by installing a 3" exhaust! I'm planning to have a 2.5" restrictor fitted to my dump pipe when the exhaust is made so I don't have these problems.

Norbie is absolutely right!
And also be careful when it comes to boosting the stock sequential twin turbo setup because high boost can be especially life threatening to the primary turbo. If you want a bit more power than the JDM stock setup, you could potentially source the US spec turbos (slightly larger), but then you might have to tweak the management to suit. Putting in a US spec ECU won't work either because the US spec motors have a MAF setup (not to mention EGR as well as different cam profile/valve lift from JDM) whereas the JDM version has a MAP/TPS system. If it suits you, you can change the sequential twin turbo setup to a simultaneous twin turbo setup (a la 1JZ-GTE) with either electronic or mechanical modification. But that will depend on what you want to achieve with the car. If you want an absolute dyno queen, aftermarket fuel/ignition management, big single turbo (to4r comes to mind), dump pipe, exhaust, bigger injectors, big intercooler and better air intake would be the go. You would see that the internals of the motor is good for well over 600HP (depending on the condition of the motor and how nice you are to it).
Hope this helps...
Cheers

sounds trickier than I thought.
I'm thinking a 2.5", and a EBC fitted by a shop which has 2J experience.
Also, interestingly, I was talking to turbosmart and they are telling me that there FCD is suited to my car. These guys are encouraging the wrong type of MOD if what your'e telling me is correct. That would be the last thing to do, not the starting point for boost increase.
