Odd electrical problem in Corona dash Wed, 05 February 2003 23:01 Go to next message
Hello, I have a 1973 Corona I just brought. There is an odd problem in the electrical system I am trying to work out.

Now I have a feeling it is a bad earth but would like everyones opinions and ideas...

When the headlights are turned off the fuel guage and temp guage always read too low.

When you turn the headlights on, both indicator lights come on (but the indicators themselves do not). If you turn say left, the left indicator light will start flashing.

With headlights on, the fuel and temp guage read correctly.

With headlights on the highbeam light comes on, and when you really do turn high beam on, the high beam light goes out.

So what is everyones ideas there?

Many thanks
Joel

Gremlins Very Happy
Does sound like a bad earth somewhere under the dash.
And let the games begin.

I wonder if you could fault find it by disconnecting various plugs behind the dash and look for faults that you described
