Re: WTB : 1970's celica Mon, 10 February 2003 05:19 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Sorry - i missed the reply

Im looking for about $3800 for mine

its a 1971 model ( flat tail lights , rear filler instead of pillar filler etc )

its got a warm 2tb in it - thats about 10000 km old ( rebuilt from scratch ) - 45mm weber sidedraft , head work - dome top hi comp pistons etc - and a 3/4 racing cam ready to go in it sitting under my bed ( good for 185 fwhp ive been told )all billet - one of the lumpiest street legal cams you can buy
paper figures show this being able to produce about 100 rwhp with the motor in the car atm

standard Gearbox , and diff , rebuilt rear drums - new front pads etc

Prelude seat conversion ( all certified ) , saas steering wheel and gearknob - clarion Cd player - Plillips splits in the front - clarion 6x9's in the back

Interior is in VGS - all black - custom dashmat ( oohh aahh ) on the dash to stop glare

the front swaybar has been replaced with a 24mm Kmac bar + urethane bushes and i have a new 18mm rear bar on the back , Monroe GT gas shocks all round - Standard springs

the car body is in good shape - needs some rust in the doors touched up - and a few other minor spots - but 90 % of the major stuff has been done ( ie bonnet - front window etc etc )

In the shed i have :

- full factory Aircon for the ta22 not installed - but there
- 14 x 7 mk 2 supra mags - all restored - and polished to a mirror like shine
- 6 14x 6.5 steel chrome mags - 4 of which are on the car atm
- 2 spare 2t motors - i running when removed from spares car the other is stripped
- new set of timing chains , guides and oil squirties
- spare taillights, trims etc

No parts - bar the supra mags will be seperated from thispackage, so dont bother asking !

i can vouch for stu's car all it needs is some TLC on the paint and a few dints, a decent exhaust that dosnt sound like a bumblebee and a knowledgable person to put the cam in and tune the weber !.....immaculate inside like it rolled off the factory floor except with way better seats and the stereo

im just curious re the Extras in question if its for me or not

if so i can have the cam puit in - dizzy remapped and weber tuned in - PROFESSIONALLY - but i would put the price up to cover it ..

I know a racing engine builder in abllarat whos offered to do it for me - He build Alfas Specifically for tarmac rallying - and he REALLy knows his old school hot motors ..
( as a note his prepped alfa came 7th in class in last years classic adelade rally - so he does know his stuff )

his words after seeing the cam profile was " Oh SHITE! " then a special gleam in his eye twinkled- so he knows what this thing is capable of - just by reading the specs Wink

bodywise i could have the minor rust repaired if needs be but once again - the price would raise

once its all dialed in, painted - and tuned - the car will be valued for sale in excess of 5 grand but it will be worth every cent ..

Stuart

paint i could prolly do here in canberra and the rust would be fixed with that i've got a friend who say's he can put the cam in this is why i asked about the extras ( the two 2T engines) cause he wants one how long would it take to get the cam done and dizzy and webber done??? and how much extra would it cost??

Cheers

the two extra 2t's are just in the shed gathering dust - got one from a spares car i had - the other was the original motor from the car ( now stripped for parts ) both can go with the car for sure - if he wants one to tinker with

the stripped one was replaced with the current worked 2tb - which was also professionally built to be a straight line weapon .. the motor alone cost the builder in excess of 2500 to build - Why he spent that much is unknown to me - i guess he wanted something different ( ie not a 2tg )- and i can pretty much assure the gear in it is good - the pistons alone were specially imported from america for example

( 3tc's oddly enough are the basis of a lot of 4 cyl drag motors over there - lots over there are cutting 9-s and 10's with this block !! )

Anyway - re cost of the cam install and tune - it could be at least another 600 dollars + for me to get it done - as the head needs to be removed and checked etc , dizzy needs to be totally rebuilt from scratch to balance in with new timing curves - and the guy doing the work is a perfectionist

Anyway - ill be calling him later this week about getting the work done anyway - so ill have an idea then on timeframe ..

Just so you know - does the friend have an idea of how to put the gear in ?? Really iof you want its full potential - id have the guy i know do the motor for you - then you just need to do the body - at least you could be 100% sure the work was done right the first time
