icon4.gif  4agze wiring help!!!! PLEASE Fri, 07 February 2003 08:05 Go to next message
hey, i got a map sensored gze (ae92). Its going into a ae82 that had a 4age. The Z (16pin) and A (26 pin) engline loom plugs will plug straight back into the computer. Now the dash loom one Y (22pin) one is the one that needs wiring up.

I cut my old dash loom plug off and the gze one. Ive soldered the gze one in place of the old plug all 7 joined up easy as, colours matched and every thing. Thing is there are 5 wires still left on the gze plug. these include:

PIN-----Colour---------Label------Connection

2------Black---------ELS2-------Idle-up diode
4------Green-white---ELS1-------Battery JB3
6------L-Y-----------FPR--------Fuel Pressure relay
11-----B-W-----------STA--------Ignition starter
15-----LG------------CCO--------Diagnositic connector

with the fuel pressure one, the fuel pressure one on my loom was "Circuit opening relay (fuel)" on socket A (14pin) so i joined that to pin 14 on the gze one which is called "circuit opening relay". Have I dont this right?? Or should i have joined it with pin 6 on the gze plug?????

Also there is a circuit opening relay that sits on the out side of the computer in a little black box, do i cut mine and use the gze one, or just leave it how it is with the standard relay??

I hope you can understand this, ive tried my best at explaining it.

ELS2-------Idle-up diode
NOT REQUIRED

ELS1-------Battery JB3
NOT REQUIRED

FPR--------Fuel Pressure relay
DON'T NEED IT TO RUN THE ENGINE BUT MAY REDUCE LIFE OF PUMP IF NOT USED. GOES TO THE RELAY THAT CONTROLS THE VOLTAGE TO THE PUMP VIA A RESISTOR BANK. IT DOES NOT GO TO CIRCUIT OPENING RELAY. CIRCUIT OPENING RELAY GOES TO PIN FC

STA--------Ignition starter
STARTER SIGNAL TO ECU. COMES FROM THE STARTER WIRE. WITHOUT THIS SIGNAL THE ENGINE WILL NOT RUN.

CCO--------Diagnositic connector
NOT REQUIRED.

Hope this helps.

Thanx heaps for that

just a few more quesitons with:

FPR - How ive put the fuel pressure one on "circuit opening relay", Do I take that and put it on the FPR line????

Circuit opening relay - what do you mean by pin fc?

STA - So do i just tap into a starter wire on the ignition???

any ideas on the little relay that sits on the outside of the ecu??

I was going off memory as I haven't wired a MAP 4AGZE for some time. Most Toyota's use a circuit opening relay and a fuel pump relay. This is a bit confusing as the COR is actually the one that supplies power to the pump while the FPR simply brings a resistor in or out to vary pump voltage depending on rpm and other load factors. The FPR is not required if you are using an external pump but can prematurally wear out a factory in-tank pump if not used.

If your 4AGZE does use BOTH relays (consult your wiring diagram or pinout) then the COR signal wire (green usually) goes to pin FC (or labled something similar) on the ecu. The FPR signal wire goes to pin FPR on the ecu. If I think of it tonight I'll look at my diagrams.

the are 2 pins on the 4agze ecu are:

(1) Pin 6, FPR, Fuel pump relay
(2) Pin 14, FC, Circuit opening relay

There is only one that was on my 4age loom:

(1) Pin 4, FC, Circuit opening relay(fuel).

So which one goes to which and which is left out?????

For simplicity, leave out the FPR and simply connect the green signal wire from the COR to pin FC.

Any other questions feel free to call me on 0409 572904.
