Custom disk questions Sun, 09 February 2003 04:11 Go to next message
Ok I know that you can get disks custom made with the stud pattern of your choice, but what about the size of the center hole?
I have my Borg warner diff just about completed with Toyota stud patten and brakes fitted. But the problem is the standard wheels dont fit because the axles have 70mm hub instead on the standard 64mm! And i'm not going to get new wheels to overcome this problem.

Any suggestions?

what about steel wheels.. ?? machine em out Smile

with the spare: machine it out too. you can run a wheel with a larger hole on a smaller axel stud (eg front). probablly not the best for it, but for limping home is fine.

How big is the hub on the hilux diff? I will most likely upgrade this diff to the hilux item in the future so I dont want to have the wheels machined out to 70mm and then find out that the hilux is 60mm!

So the hub sizes change between the front and back?

Depends on the car. For example my Mk2 Corona has 67 mm rear hub and 76mm front hub. You can get an idea of the hub diameter from the DBA catalogue (www.dba.com.au).

Yeah I have just been looking at that!
What I am worried about is the legal aspect! So having different size hubs front and back is not a legal issue?

You machine the axles to suit your wheels, at least that's how my Borg warner is done.

But what have you done about the rotor? Or do you just have the rotor floating on the studs?

My rotors are custom but you can just leave a shoulder for your rotor to sit on and machine down the rest to suit your wheel.

Shane, not quite sure, the guy who shortened and re-splinned my axles sourced them for me.

No worries mate. I'm getting the hubs machined on my axles but leaving a sholder there for the rotor! This will do the trick Very Happy
