if your box is an R154, yes the auto yoke from the same model car or similar years will fit. These are both bigger than the W series yokes of earlier models.

I have a spare yoke from a late-model W58 (ie from a JZA80 Supra), but I'm not sure if this is the same as the R154.

I've just got one question...how the f**k did you fit a R154 into an RA65? How did you make the tunnel wider? Very Happy

JCMF i believe skidman answered that question on the performance forums, it took a hammer massage if i can recall correctly

skidman would it be possible to get some pictures of just how much modification went into your trans tunnel, or possibly give a little description of what it took to get the R154 in there, there would be a few celica owners who would appreciate this info

thanks and good luck with the rest of the conversion Cool

the reason we ask this is that if there is a way to get the R154 into a celica trans tunnel without having to cut it out and weld in a new one then it will save a lot of hassle when people do engine conversions or drivetrain upgrades.

many of us have yet to see proof that the R154 will fit without cutting the tunnel, if we do then it can end up being quite a relief for people organising future projects.

most people who ask about putting a R154 into their celica on these forums get told to either cut the tunnel or just put up with a W58, and this info usually comes from people who haven't tried to fit one (hell i think ive even given this advice before).

getting some good proof (pictures) should be able to clear up a few things.

anyways have a good one....

Yeah, some pictures would be great. I've been told that to fit in an A6X transmission tunnel, it requires some belting out of a few ribs, which I'm not sure I wanted to do...but if you can do it otherwise Very Happy
