This was all I could find quickly (It's for NSW, but SA won't be too different I would think)

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/v si06.pdf

Have a look at page 7, it only says this:

Owners should ensure that the seat and its anchorages comply with any applicable ADR requirements

(possibly by certification from the seat manufacturer or by an engineering signatory) and the appropriate

seat belts are fitted to all seating positions.

So I would look for ADR compliance from the Seat maker

Basically, if the seat itself is ADR approved, and they can supply seat rails to fit, OR you can make them fit to the original rails without butchering them, I think thats ok.

In Queensland u need engineering aproval after the seats are installed.

I actually think they give ya a blue plate for it.

Check with ya local transport authority first tho so u have everything right.

Just spoke to my dad, registered RTA inspector, you need to get the seat engineered here in NSW.

Because i enjoy putting knob head cops in their place, I have a fair bit on legal modifications to passenger type vehicles here in SA.

Seats

Aditional or replacement seats fitted to ADR complying vehicles manufactured on or after 1/1/1971 (ADR3) require approval from transport SA. Modifications to seats will be considered where the strength of the seat and mountings are not affected.

With ADRs you myst first identify ther date your vehicle was manufactured to determine which rules apply to you.

I suggest you cruse down to regency and ask for information bulletin 11: INSTALLATION OF ADDITIONAL SEATS AND SEATBELTS

Hope i could help
