Oooooh, them's fightin' words
What car do you have by the way J? Just a friendly question by the way You seem to always post in the 1jz topics as I do
Well my aim for my car is high 10's. I am absolutely positive that it will not run that for quite a while as the whole car is an experiment basically and I think the rear is a bit too hard. Adding to that, I have never drag raced in my life Hope to get up near the top of the list one day. And I will have a timeslip

started a 1j project though due to finances had to on sell it. as mortgages and the like come first. i used to Drag a HZ holden ute running consistant 12.8's back at the old eastern creek strip. so i have a fair knowledge of drag racing and i still hold my andra license and memebership.
during the build up of my 1j project i met Supraman as i got some parts of him, and i visited a workshop on newcastle where i met shane with 1JZ747 when his car was being tuned. although i had to sell my project it hasnt killed my interest in toyota's or this engine. i believe there are some great things happening with this engine and its great to see. i believe from talking to both shane and Kristian that the JT autogas ute missed a gear and still ran that time so still has room to improve and i beleve was one of the first runs the owner ever had on a drag strip. i know 1JZ747 ran that 11.80 on 16PSI as i had a look at the data logging screen in his microtech dash and the car clearly had converter issues with the heat at the jamboree as did the Green Vk commodore GIHOOK as i talked to him a bit aswell. was great to see they both qualified in the top ten of SPORT RWD/AWD amongst some tuff competition. the commentators were certainly lost for words when the cressida ran 11.80 ( mums taxi LOL)
from what i have found and heard from kristian these guys are all very approachable about there setups and all seemes to have tried different ways.
it shits me when people have never ran a time get on forums and talk shit about how quick they are or think they will be. Jag's car may make the same power as say the other twin turbo cars on the list but look at the WA plated (mike i believe)JZA70 that ran at WSID he couldnt get the times and he could admit it was the driver not the car. so until JAG runs a time i dont think he should put down the other peoples achievements.
GOOD LUCK with the Yellow beast, would be great to see you run in super sedan and blow the doors off some tubbed tunnel rammed V8's.

Thanks mate
Yeah mate, I agree with you. There are so many variables that you can't really guess a time even with all the 1.4 mile calculators. Best car in the world and the crappiest driver is not going to go well. That is just an example by the way That is why I said my aim is high 10's. Big difference between aiming for and doing though!

Yeah
JT Mechanical ran for the first time that night and has not run since ( keeps smashing 9 inch diffs!!). That was its debut and Jamie had some things to sort out
Like the first big launch broke the seat frame and he ended up looking at the roof.
From then on he was wedging his helmet (and head) in the corner of the cabin so he could hold his head forward enough to see the track. (1.50 60 foot times make a lot of g's)
He has a lot of Drag experience but mostly old school stuff. Didnt put together a clean pass this night though, missed gears, failing batteries, etc.
...Overall not too bad for a shakedown outing. Just wait till we go back with everything sorted !!
With the old HP and a clean pass a 10 sec pass was on the cards - however some more HP has been found and we want a mid 10.

Martin Donnan should have run an auto! The mph indicates 11's but there must be serious traction issues. This was after it was single turbo right?

My best was a 13.5, not 13.6 as you mentioned above. Sorry, but every little bit counts
with recent fitment of my HKS PFC F-CON, exhaust, and shift kit, and dumps, front mount, and intake piping due next week, I'm sure an improvement on that 13.5 in my 1700kg Soarer isnt far away.
I think Jag7799 is harmless, he likes making big claims, but cant back them up...
I remember when I told him my car was stock, and made 204rwkw....
Jag7799 he told me his car was stock and made approx 210rwkw, but forgot to mention his front mount intercooler, dumps, exhaust and microtech

jag7799, not interested in taking up that challenge.
this $50 is burning a hole in my pocket. i'll spend it on christmas presents.
|
lol, i dont know why but toymods didnt send me a reply notification thing.
and i plan to get to the strip so stop being a fuckhead.. although i see you take quite well to it.
at the time I said that the top 5 time was 12.69
Ive got to replace my gearbox crossmember and hit the strip
its a lot of effort considering i find drag racing boring and its an hour away. but I will get around to it, and i promise you'll be the 1st one i pm... dickhead
Nor did I ever say anyone elses acheivments were crap, i just put down an educated guess based on my cars ability(not my own) compared to other peoples car who make around the same power but weigh more
as for beating a 13.8. jzz30's with same mods as mine and manual get around a 13.5.. maybe a bit better even, my car happens to be about 400-500 kg less than such examples.. so other than my skill theres no reason why I couldnt crack that.
Ill make a note though, my cars more for thrashing around in than a drag car.

I think you really need to get out on the track so your mouth doesnt keep getting you in trouble, as your numbers just dont add up.
Base model JZZ30 Soarer weighs 1600kg (with me and 30L of fuel, mine is 1700kg.) MZ12 Soarer weighs 1300kg (you and fuel in the car will bring it up to 1400kg. Thats a 300kg difference mate, not 400-500kg difference as you stated above.

You are talking out of your arse. Its easy to throw around numbers and think your car is the shit, you think its so fcuking quick, and you think you are in the top 5 fastest 1jz powerered cars on Australia, when you have only 200rwkw. You think you could pull a 12.6 second pass ?
I think you are dreaming.
Once again, stop talking shit, get out there, drive it down the 1/4 mile strip and see how you go. Its really not that scary, just dont tell your parents you are going if you are worried they wont let you go
Your excuses for low power output and no track times are really getting tiresome.
All your talking will get you no where until you can back it up with a timeslip. Do it, prove it, or shut the fuck up.

that educated guess is not very educated.
the 12.87 cressida was an animal, auto, and ran an awesome 60foot time to get into the twelves. any one with a idea of drag racing will know how hard it is to get a street car on street tyres to crack the 2.00 sixty foot times. added to that your drving a manual.
my offer still stands, that gives you a gap of 1.2seconds difference between what i think it will run and what you think.

lol, im not saying my car is one of the fastest 1jz powered cars in aus
just that i could maybe get itno the top 5 in that list which CERTAINLY doesent list the top 5 in australia, there was a 1jz'd datto Z running low 12's. there are also various other cars
my soarer is an mz10, not mz12. stock weight comes in at 1170 kg or something. so add the extra weight of a 1j instead of an MTEU and thats how I get my figure.
also my gz10 was put on a weigh bridge and got 1179? or something, was in the 1170
I love how you shut up about lieing about my mods and such
lol and as for my low power output. go out on 11 psi and make the same power

my soarer is no boat . it will happily go to a track day.. i find with my car, i dont really care about going for a long drive to go drag down a strip.. maybe for a track day though.
my car is for thrashing..
when i actually get money again, getting true trac lsd.. upgrading the brakes and then it will be ready for the track
i wanna do it.. but ill probably end up being too lazy again

I have no experience with drag racing but sounds like a great effort on street tires.
I would love to crack the 12's in full street trim, its in my 5 year plan Do all those in the top 20 use big singles? How far could you go with twin T28's for example?

I would be happy running 12's and still be street legal, VERY happy. I just like the idea of keeping twins for street driveability.
Is it true that the 1JZ auto's are about half a second quicker in 0-100 times? Is this still the case if you use a manual shift kit?

all depends on how much power and how good a driver you are eg. near stock power - manual would be pretty close or faster than auto depending on driver.
big hp, say 500 or so and a tricked up auto is going to have a big advantage over a manual.
somewhere in the middle??? I don't know
sounds like you would be a good candidate for steel wheel turbos to me
