1/4 Mile Top Speed a Good Show of Power??

Here is an Idea...
With lots of Dyno figures being pushed around, how about checking out 1/4 mile figures. A lot of guys say "oh.. i only ran a 15 cause i stuffed the start and bog'd down"... Well how about asking them what their top speed was.
Eg. My Cressida doing a 13.8 ran 170.8kph. (A little slow but i'm buggered if i go much quicker cause it will hit the speed limiter)
Anyhow... FOR everyone else.. post your 1/4 Mile Top speeds and your dyno figures.
EG: NAME : LUKE POWER : Will find out at DYNO DAY ET : 13.8@170.8kph

Say another 1J cressida did a 13.7@160kph... would that indicate someone has a better launch but not as much top end?
PROVIDED both cars are flat out at the trap.

Autospeed has published an article about this and found that trap speed is the best indication of rwhp when compared to 0-100 and 1/4 mile times.
on the same day as luke i did a 5.8 0-100 and flat 14 sec 1/4.
however the traps speed was 175 kmh.
the final 1/4 mile and trap were slow though because the last 150 m of the 1/4 was around a bend. I held on for the 1/4 running the wrong way to see if i could get it in before the bend. I was having lots of trouble launching and when the 5.8 came up I decided to press on.

Hi Guys,we were messing around with the Gtech with a 20v SX corolla and the owner got a time of 16.4 @ 144.3km/h.He let me have a go as it was the first time he had timed it.I managed to do a 16.02 @ 144.2 km/h.This seemed a little dissapointing from a 20v as my corolla that night ran a best of 15.4 and a few 15.8 at a top end of around the 150km/h mark.I could not understand this as I always belived that the 20v had the edge when it came to top end power.
I was keen to gtech the celica and got a 12.96 but the car we later on descovered ate a plug which caused a misfire in 3rd gear on the run and sounded like a wrx after that.I cant remember the speed trap......to worried about what sort of damage I had done.Cant wait to give it another bash, this time with the bosch 4 ways this time.

Sorry Guys But it needs to be said.
The Toymods car club in no way supports street racing of any kind. There was a thread about 0-100 G tech runs which was close to the line but as long as it sits inside the boundries of the law I personally have no problem with that. Mind you the street racing laws are pretty blurry so in hind sight thats prolly a bad idea too !
I do have a problem with Qtr Mile runs on public roads
Eastern Creek is open for street meets twice a month and its alot cheaper than a speeding fine. I know I sound like an old maid but facts are simple. Its illegal and its dangerous. Any Threads encouraging Illegal use of Pulic roads in anyway will be deleted. I am going to assume all times quoted above were actually LEGALLY obtain on a race track so I would kindly request any refrence that suggests otherwise be edited out.
This is a PUBLIC forum please think about what you are typing for all and sundry to read but above all else Drive safe.
Thanks.

11.9 at 111mph at Eastern Creek, i have used a G-Tech and found the mph to be way out{on my car}. No horsepower figures as car has not been Dynoed, but is estimated at around 230rwhp.

Nice time V8celica...
Is this a fair thing to say.....
Judging by the MR2's 118mph speed and 12.4, If he puts some slicks on the car and does a launch much like the one in your photo, it will run under an 11.9???
I understand that because of the 111mph v's 118mph.
Once again, this is not intended as a bitch fight so don't take this the wrong way, I'm just heaps looking forward to seeing a 4ag do a sub 12 time!

Yes 118mph should ruffly equal a mid to low 11 second pass BUT there is more to it than just putting a set of slicks on a car, the key to a good hard launch is very soft suspension and weight transfer. The MR2 being a mid mount is going to have a lot of trouble getting the power down even with slicks. After seeing a lot of the Toymods cars at Eastern Creek it is easy to see that most of them are set up to handle better than most normal cars, a good example of this is Yogi's car i have only seen it the once but i can tell if his drive line was in my car it would run aloy quicker but it would then handle like a wet sponge, what i am trying to say is it is very hard to have a car that is great at everthing, my car without a doubt would be the worst handling car on this forum but i like the drags.

thats so true.
I don't know what to make of my car yet. Its a hard decision. I could spend lots of money on suspension to have a good handling car, or i could spend loads on having a quick drag car. And i'm sure Joey's cressida will prove that it can be done very soon.
I love my car to handle but at the same time, it will never handle like the sprinter did. So where do you draw the line with a boat like mine. I guess i'm going to try and make it as even as possible. Already many people find it hard to keep with me up the old pac... i do know the road well but hey i'm also leading and following is a hell of a lot easier on a night run.

A dyno is a tuning tool and thats it. Compare my 4ag to rigoli's. His engine bay is full of more shit than his dyno, which by the way states it makes more than 320hp.
Tony Rigoli Performance Toyota corolla: 320hp@wheels 12.1 115mph (avgas,lsd 25psi)
Mr2: find hp next dyno day 12.4 118mph (optimax,no lsd 20psi) Completely stock 4agze (aw11 type) gt30 turbo definitatly not 320hp.
