Battery relocation...

I'm thinking of relocating the battery in the Cressida to the boot...
For a relative layperson, what is involved in this...Obviously I'll have to run the earth to...earth, but what about the positive lead (and all the crap hanging off it). Is it just a matter of lengthening all those wires, forming a "loom" and running it thru the firewall and back thru the car to the boot or...what?
If what I want to happen in the future does, the relocation will be necessary...

You have to run a REALLY big wire from the back to the front. Nice and insulated with as little resistance as possible.

I did this in my Supra recently. You will need:
- proper sealed and vented battery box, securely attached to floorpan
- big fuck-off cable from battery -ve to a solid ground point on the chassis close to the battery (I used the rear seat belt anchor point)
- heavy-duty circuit breaker just after the battery, at least 100A (I used 150A but that may be overkill)
- battery isolation switch (optional, but a good idea)
- big fuck-off cable from battery +ve to the starter motor
- large-ish cable from the starter to a distribution point in the engine bay, which is where you attach everything that used to attach to the battery +ve
That's about it from memory. Nothing too taxing here, but it can be a bit of stuffing around if you're soldering the terminals on yourself, and routing the cable can be a whole lot of suck sometimes as well.

Don't need a 2JZ, as I have a 1UZ...
No, the relocation is so I can fit something "extra" in the space currently occupied by the battery...

A battery box is only about $20, and the only lead you need to run is the heavy duty positive. I had to do it cause of the size of my radiator. Plus with the big Spot lights I have, I wanted a bigger battery, which wouldn't have fitted in the origional spot even with the normal radiator... You will find a couple of plugged up holes in the fire wall anyway, so there isn't really any hard work...

BOC make some really large wire that is heavily insulated. It is cheaper than the majority of auto electricians etc.
I paid $45 for 5 meters of it.

your right turbo? IO also used an earth lead off a welder. much better price range. ANd there is also bigger leads too. so if you want to push heaps of power, then you get a bigger lead...

Just a note, Jaycar currently has a special on their 100amp circuit breakers.. $22 instead of $35 or there abouts.
I brought one today.
Cheers
