2S-C Unleaded, and leaded Wed, 12 February 2003 22:59 Go to next message
Hey yeah, got my hands on a 84 ST 141 corona, Now i also have an 86 ST141 corona. My questions is the 86 model is clearly meant to be running unleaded (got a cat etc..). Anyway the 84 engine from what i can tell is meant to be running leaded, it has a different set up on the vacuum advanced (1 line off the dizzy and not 2). Where the cat would has been replaced with a hot dog. Ok does anyone know if there is difference between the 2 engines? I can't see why i would not be able to run unleaded in the 84 model as it would have same seats on the values right?. Ok the ST series does it have same chassis as any other model of Toyota?

All Toyota engines have hardened valve seats since the mid 70's. Your Corona does not needed leaded fuel.

I have just replaced my engine in my CS Corona unleaded 1986 model. I bought another from the wreckers.
The engines are the same ie. leaded and unleaded.
Essentially the only difference as you mention is the dual stage vacuum advance on the dizzy, and the carby which has been slightly changed (or at least that's what the wreckers told me)
I have a relative who has a leaded version (1984) which runs perfectly on unleaded, although the timing was altered a little.
By the way, can you tell me where the 2 hoses that connect to the dizzy go to?
I know one comes directly from inlet manifold, but I don't know where the other goes to (since I changed the motor over. If you could advise that would be great,
Thanks,
Ron
