i was in the middle of rebuilding an 18r-gu when a turbocharged, injected 18r-g complete with supra gearbox fell into my lap now i have a complete 18r-gu and 18r-c engine stripped down to the last nut and bolt ready for anyone who wants it. (no new parts in it but the old ones are in good condition)

what size valves does your 18-rgu head have, and what compression pistons do you have for the twincam motor?

i dont know the proper way to measure the valves so i measured the hole that it covered
intake 40mm
exhaust 34mm
the engine has duel solex carbies (so no injection equipment)
i am happy to get rid of the motor in pieces so long as i know i can get rid of the head and carbies. if so;
timing case (i assume thats the proper name for the front chain cover) $50 (or somthing) i donno what the postage would be.
distributer & cap (points system) $10

the head numbers are 88253
the motor looks very origional and the pistons are in quite good condition. they do have the domes in them and the valve groves in the top so they would be either 9.7-1 or 9.2-1 (im not too sure which ones)
just found out the new motor has custom pistons that cost $2000+ designed for the professionaly fitted turbo
just thaught i would share that

88253 is the big valve head...great starting platform.
the 18RGU has either 8.7 or 8.4 depending on Serial #
if the block & head are from the same "engine" that was factory
built. The Serial #(Not the head casting #)is located just over
the #1 cyl exhaust port on a small tab that sticks out just under the valve cover surface. My #88253 18RGU has a Serial number of 87???.. very late 18rgu

Do the higher-comp pistons fit straight into a later efi motor? ie an efi 18rgeu -88270 head
this would be a great way of increasing N/A power if u wanted to rebuild..

yes they do.
as a matter of fact use the early block also if you have it.
They have thicker cyl walls and can "take more heat" hint hint, wink wink.
