The RA23 is longer than the TA22! The RA23 has a much larger engine bay and also has a mound on the bonnet!

Heaps, bonnet is different, grill, different motor (2T vrs 18R), different gearbox (T50 vrs W50?).
The RA23 has a larger engine bay as already stated (quite easy to get a 1G into an RA2X harder to get into a TA22)
TA23 is a RA23 but with the smaller 2T motor (has the same larger engine bay and external cosmetics as the RA23).
RA23 is newer, and some TA22's (the early ones Click here for TA22 info) have the fuel filler behind the numberplate not on the side.
Also the Diff on the RA23 might be bigger? (not sure on that one)
I'm sure someone who actually has a TA22 or RA23 will be able to help you out more!
Cheers

cosmetically, the rear half of a TA22 and an RA23 are the same.... i remember someone telling me the "Toyota Half Car" theory of theirs - toyota developed early celicas in halves:
-TA22, the beginning
-RA23, new front, same rear as TA22
-RA28, new rear, same front as RA23
amusing

Obviously u didnt read the tech article that wilbo posted....
and i quote....
"The Toyota Celica TA22 was first released for sale in 1971 and continued until September 1975 when the TA23 was released, closely followed by the RA23 in 1976. From the rear the 1971 and early 1972 Celica’s are distinctly different from the later models."

Think the
TA22 was 1970 (Think we might have got them in 1971 tho?)-1975, TA23 was 1975-1976
RA23 was 1976 - 1977
RA40 was 1977 - 1981
RA60 1981-1983
RA65 1983 - 1985 (late)
SA63 1983 -1984
ST162 1986-1989
Some production data here
If I stuffed up there (quite probably!)let us know and I'll try and fix it up)
Do you thing we should make an article on the history's of every car? Celica, Crown, Cressida, Corona, Corolla? I'm sure if we make a thread we could get all the info we need...
Cheers

I think there is about 100kg's difference between the two, RA23 being the heavy one at about 1000kg and the TA's at around 900kg..
not sure tho.
